Lewis Fitz-Gerald has enjoyed an enormously varied and successful career in film, theatre and television. Since his debut in Bruce Beresford's feature Breaker Morant, Lewis' film credits include Pitch Black, A Cry in the Dark, Dead Heart, The Boys are Back, The Cup, Not Suitable For Children and Truth.

Lewis' work in Australian television includes the mini-series I Can Jump Puddles, The Last Outlaw, The Shiralee and The Four Minute Mile, and the features The Mystery of Natalie Wood, The Three Stooges, Underbelly and A Model Daughter.

Nominated twice as an actor and twice as director, Lewis is well-known for his work in series dramas The Flying Doctors, Crownies, Janet King and Rake. Lewis has also directed many of Australia's best-loved programs, including McLeod's Daughters, Stingers, Water Rats, Home and Away, Neighbours and the US series Ponderosa. Lewis has written and directed several documentaries, including the AFI-nominated The Last Man Hanged.

Lewis has also worked in London's West End, for most major Australian theatre companies, and helped establish the world-renowned Belvoir St Theatre.
