In the present day, somebody plants a bomb under Jackson's car, intended for him and his whole family as they drive home from church. Jackson gets them out of the car just in time.

After Jackson tells Finnerman that he wants back on the team, she tells him to meet her at an ETU safe house in Maryland. Briggs pulls up ... and Jackson is more than a little suspicious.

Finnerman was behind the car bombing and has now sent Briggs to finish the job. Jackson talks him out of it by saying he'll be no better than the Hunters if he goes through with his orders.

Meanwhile, Musa's in really bad shape after the ETU attack on the hotel. His wounds aren't healing they way they should, and he's starting to get a little paranoid, rambling on about how the humans want his body and warning Abby about how there are "traitors everywhere."

The Hunters line up to have their skin cut open as a demonstration of their loyalty to Musa. Only those loyal will be able to Purge!

Musa isn't satisfied by the show of loyalty. He tells Abby that The Purge will be sabotaged by The Exalted, the group that sabotaged the initial escape from the Hunters' homeworld.

Now on the run from the ETU, Regan and Flynn argue over whether The Purge really is an evacuation from Earth ... or, per Flynn, just another one of Abby's lies. The answer lies with the Hunters' arms dealer Viktor Karp, whom Regan tracks down by hacking the ETU's database.

Regan and Flynn try to apprehend Viktor Karp outside of a medical center, but it turns out his terminally ill son Pablo was in the back of his car, not him.

Regan and Flynn take Pablo to a hotel, where he reveals that he went off his leukemia meds to clean his system for a new 'treatment.' Regan remembers that Viktor took some of her blood when she was held at his compound ... is Hunter blood meant to be some radical new cure-all?

Regan calls Viktor on Pablo's phone, telling him to reveal the launch site for The Purge. Viktor says he won't give the information until his son his returned to him.

After Pablo suffers a seizure, Flynn and Regan decide to inject him with his 'treatment.' Is it going to work?

It did for a while ... and then Pablo's face melted off. So much for the alien cure for cancer.

Regan and Flynn are surprised when Viktor's car pulls up at their agreed rendezvous point and his head comes flying out the window. We would be, too.

The man behind the beheading? McCarthy, of course. He claims that Musa gave him the boot and now he wants to help stop him. The deal: He'll reveal the Purge launch site to Jackson in exchange for immunity.

Speaking of the launch ... "We are going home," Musa tells the Hunters as they gather in front of their ship.

Back in Afghanistan 2009, Finnerman orders Jackson to execute an innocent farmer who witnessed the Hunter attack.
