Axel isn't dead! Instead he's just tied up in the B'ah's lair forced to watch all his new army friends die horribly. The only thing that saves him is the fact that, since he used to be a vampire, he tastes gross. No matter, the B'ah is just gonna use him to lure Vanessa here anyway and she has to nearly rip his face apart to do so.

Meanwhile, things in Denver aren't exactly perfect. Julius is still trying to get back to some kind of normal life, but Phil is still very upset with him and now that Julius has a job at a bar, Phil is using it to get very, very drunk. Doc and Jolene, on the other hand, discover that the vampire repellant shots actually work when they are attacked walking home. The euphoria of not dying is cut short, though, when Jolene is later attacked by her coworker.

Things aren't getting any better for Flesh/Phil either. Turns out, drinking isn't quite enough and he loses it during open mic night at the bar. He spouts what everyone thinks is madness about what it's like to be a vampire and kill your own kids before pulling out a gun and shooting himself. One problem: he really can't die.

While Julius attempts to explain Phil's non-death to his boss and avoid suspicion, Jolene arrives in Doc's lab and nearly takes her new girlfriend's head off. All is not right in Stepford.
410433
Doc performs a very gross experiment with rats and discovers that the thing making people lose their cool is definitely the anti-vampire shots. No dose is safe, and there is no way to know when someone is going to lose it. She and Jolene resolve to tell the rest of Denver but the Powers That Be already know about the danger, and they don't care. The shots keep people thinking they're safe.

Julius decides the only way to help Phil is to try to reuinite him with his wife, and since this is Denver, he goes looking for her in the registry of people who have passed through. He finds her, but not before Phil decides to try another, more drastic means of permanent death. Though Julius attempts to talk him down, Phil steps off the edge of a building and crashes to the ground. We don't find out if he managed to survive that one.

Back in San Francisco, Vanessa takes the B'ah's bait, then takes on a whole bunch of her flippy vampire minions. She makes pretty quick work of them, despite their agility, and manages to free Axel in the process. The B'ah is a little harder to kill, but it's nothing a little teamwork can't fix. They gab her ring and some blood and head back.
410436
They immediately feed the blood to a very sick Scarlett who bounces back pretty quickly. Good thing too, because she and Vanessa have more totems to find, and Vanessa wants to use them to raise the Dark One themselves and end this whole vampire thing once and for all.

Axel, meanwhile, decides they don't need his help, but the remaining survivors do. He's going to escort them to Denver where it's, you know, safe! He and Scarlett say their sappy goodbyes and everyone makes way too many promises for an apocalypse and all go their separate ways.
