It’s 2016 and bonkers Jennifer Goines has decided to take the fight right to the 12 Monkeys. She springs some crazies from her old asylum to help her on the mission. They call themselves “The Hyenas.”

Back in 2044, the temporal anomalies are getting worse and the gang pinpoints one more Primary that needs to be saved to stop the destruction. But they don’t know where or when. Cole heads to the older Goines for answers.

Goines in 2044 can’t tell Cole where to find the last Primary, but she can tell him that back in 2016 she and her Hyenas have been hunting The Tall Man, who does have the answers he needs. She also warns Cole to tell Ramse and Cassie to stay away from something called Titan… Ominous.

Cole makes it to 2016 and finds Jennifer and her band of crazies but one of them, Vanessa, REALLY doesn’t want Cole there.

Even with Cole’s warning, Ramse and Cassie can’t let go of Titan, whatever it may be. It came to Ramse by way of that psycho Primary Slade and to Cass through her crazy Witness red leaf hallucinations. Hannah suggests they go and see The Keeper, a man who trades in truth.

Hey! It’s Dr. Peters! Isn’t that the dude who created the virus in the first place? Turns out he DIDN’T run away and hide like he was supposed to and instead started trying to make an antidote. But the 12 Monkeys are still looking for him so Cole and the Hyenas decide to use him as bait.

Cass and Ramse’s search brings them face to face (er… mask) with The Keeper. Who seems to be carrying a really big gun.

Okay, Vanessa REALLY doesn't like Cole. The plan is to pretend that Dr. Peters is giving a press conference and then kidnap the Tall Man. EXCEPT the Hyenas want to go through with it and warn the world about the virus. When Cole objects, Vanessa pulls a gun and INSISTS.

With that big gun, The Keeper forced Cassie and Ramse into a couple of lie detector tests. If they tell the truth, The Keeper will give them the info they are looking for. If they lie, he’ll kill them. Being forced to tell the truth leads them to reveal a lot of deep feels about how they both are jealous of the other’s relationship with Cole. FEELINGS!

Jennifer and Cole are able to escape the Hyenas and capture The Tall Man who after some very persuasive arguments (read: torture) tells the two where the last Primary is.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peters is giving his press conference. But something isn’t quite right… The Tall Man seems a little too happy that the press conference is happening. Could it be…

A BOMB! The 12 Monkeys planned the whole thing! The press conference blows, killing Dr. Peters and The Hyenas. There’s a brief shoot out and when the dust settles, Cole and Jennifer see that The Tall Man has escaped.

Having told the truth, The Keeper gives Cassie and Ramse all the info he has about Titan; a highly redacted CIA brief points them to a Dr. Kirchner in East Berlin in 1961… And that’s it. It may not be much but it’s enough to send Cassie and Ramse on a new mission.

Jennifer is understandably distraught after the death of her Hyenas and questions her ability to lead. A pep talk from Cole gives her the will to keep fighting. As soon as Cole splinters back to the future there’s a knock at the door, which turns out to be… Cole from another time! Looking VERY beat up.

After some earlier awkwardness Katarina shares a touching moment with her estranged daughter Hannah and shows her a picture of her father who left Katarina soon after the wedding and was also working on time travel. We don’t know what became of him...

BUT THE TALL MAN DOES! Cause here are the two of them acting all chummy and having a drink. It seems that The Tall Man is trying to convince Katarina's estranged husband to work on a BIG project. A MASSIVE project. A project so HUGE it could only be called one thing: TITAN!
