In a flashback to before the zombie apocalypse, this creepy doctor asks some cryptic medical-related questions before removing some brain tissue from a junkie. Sheesh, what's this quack's story?
100411
Citizen Z re-routes the team to a lab in Fort Collins, CO, where Dr. Merch (the woman who originally experimented on Murphy way back in Episode 1) will greet them.
100416
Cassandra's not lookin' good. Will she make the 150 miles between this spot in the woods and the team's new destination?
100421
Murphy seems to be directing the Z's in active defiance of Roberta after she handcuffs him before going into the lab.
100426
After that bit of passive-aggressiveness, Murphy keeps the zombies at bay and safely escorts the team into the seemingly abandoned lab.
100431
Back in the past, we meet an Ebola patient, another terrified victim of the spooky bald fellow removing the brain tissue of various unfortunates.
100436
Also back in the past: Dr. Merch! Here she's asking a quarantined lab doctor (note how handsome he is here) about an unknown contaminant ... which will eventually cause the Z apocalypse.
100441
We knew the team would eventually see each other naked, right? And also put on awesome goggles and get decontaminated.
100446
The team learns that some very unpleasant HUMAN EXPERIMENTS went down at this lab, a place known mostly for its fantastic microbreweries before the apocalypse.
100451
And the place is crawling with MUTANT ZOMBIES. Murphy's increasingly disturbing instincts kick in and he tears the heads off two of 'em with his bare hands.
100456
And speaking of disturbing, when Cassandra is too weak to go on, the team finds a safe place to for her to lie down ... and perhaps die. But when Murphy privately says his goodbyes, Cassandra seems deeply ... well, disturbed by the zombie messiah.
100461
And then the team finds this guy, who was once the very attractive quarantined doctor in the flashback with Dr. Merch. He shows them the video of how he came to look like this and then begs them to kill him.
100401
It isn't Dr. Merch who makes a grand entrance but our creepy bald brain tissue collector, who identifies himself as Dr. Kurtz, here to save humankind. Sure.
100466
Citizen Z utilizes his super-technology to discover the truth: the REAL Dr. Kurtz holds the patents on the world’s worst diseases – THIS guy, Dr. Walter Kurian, is the man responsible for the outbreak itself.
100471
Citizen Z recommends the best course of action via the best means available to him: FaceTime.
100476
Wait! What's happened to Cassandra? Is she zombified? Or does the bite mark on her cheek mean that Murphy is controlling her? Either way, she saves the team from the soldiers accompanying the evil Dr. Walter Kurian.
100481
Noooo!! Not Doc! He's a real favorite, right? He got stoned with a zombie in an elevator! He always has sage wisdom to share! He's the only father figure that 10K has anymore! Noooo!!! (Actually, it's cool, he lives to see the closing credits ... but close call, no?)
100486
It turns out the facility is linked to a system that causes a nuclear missile to be shot straight at it if anyone contaminated leaves the premises. Worse still, one missile begets other missiles. The apocalypse just got a lot worse.
100491
After triggering the nuclear attack, Murphy makes his way to the elevator, where he starts to peel off his face ...
100496
... and by the time the team gets there, they find, like, ALL of his skin. Whoa. Right?
100501
And so, as we look forward to next season, we leave Citizen Z, Mack & Addie, and everyone else on Operation Bitemark watching the sky, waiting for the United States to be blown to smithereens.
