We begin where we left off last week, with Vanessa facing off against Sam. Vanessa gets one good shot in, embedding a tomahawk in his back as he runs off, but he gets away at first. Of course, he takes the time to spread his blood all over because what else would he do?

Meanwhile, the rest of the crew make their way through the facility to find the other kids who haven't been visciously murdered. They find them and make a surprising amount of noise in the process. Guess you can make noise when the only bad guy is off playing cat and mouse with a Van Helsing.

Vanessa chases Sam into the gym, which is fitting because Sam, being a sick, sick bastard, wants to play. Vanessa just wants to fight. Naturally, Sam torments her by recapping all the people he helped kill - or actually killed - while Vanessa gets steadily angrier. Eventually Sam escapes again and the chase continues.

Vanessa takes a break from hunting the serial killer vampire to regroup with Mike and Julius. She offers to help get the kids to safety before continuing on with her hunt. She offers to let Julius stay behind but he would rather join in. He is not pleased with all this child murder.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the forest, Mohamad is remarkably not dead, Flesh is having portentious dreams that he thinks are messages, and Lucky is the only one doing survival things. She's also taking this whole "that guy you like used to be a vampire" thing really well.

Back at the Johnson's camp, the crew arrive to discover that Sam has beaten them home and killed a bunch of the kids. He left most of them alive though and they convene a counsel of some kind to decide what to do. Some want to set traps, some are really just scared. Vanessa is on the hunt.

Before she leaves, though, Vanessa says goodbye to Troy and Felix who are keeping watch. Felix begs her to give him something to do. He wants to know he helped kill Sam even in a small way. So Vanessa, knowing she needs to be at her full strength, cuts his arm and drinks his blood. It's better than a power bar.

Lucky, Flesh and Mohamad make a pit stop at a farmhouse of some kind. Flesh wants a car and he thinks they left one nearby, but fuel is going to be an issue. Or it would be if he wasn't travelling with Lucky, who can apparently convert cooking oil to diesel. That's ... Lucky. They finally kiss. Mohamad approves.

Checking in on the road trip from hell to confirm that yes, Axel is still THE WORST. He does finally agree to feed on Doc though, so progress? Of course, then he steps in a bear trap so it's two steps forward, one step back.

We also get a glimpse at what Dimitri is up to these days. Mostly he seems to be reading until someone comes in and gives him some bad news, which causes him to break things and call for an army. Apparently he's just discovered that Anastasia is dead (remember: she was killed by the forest ninja).

As with all great vampire stories, the saga of Sam and Vanessa culminates at a run down church. They exchange pleasantries before the fighting commences. There are punches, and the swinging of axes, and a surprising amount of headbutts. Then something strange happens. Sam gets the upper hand. He stabs Vanessa a whole bunch of times and pins her to the wall, choking her.

Just then, a wild Julius appears! He's got a shotgun and he knows how to use it. He shoots Sam a whole bunch of times before Sam does his usual schtick and taunts the person trying to murder him. Too bad Julius is out of bullets so he can't finish him off. Bright side: Vanessa's all better now.

Cornered and injured and insane, Sam opts to throw himself out the window of the steeple rather than be turned back into a human by Vanessa. He makes a satisfying splat sound when he hits the ground, but can vampires die from impact?

Flesh isn't the only one having dreams. Doc is having them too. But unlike Flesh, when she wakes up she immediately draws what she saw. Axel takes a break from being an ass to say that what she drew is a place and he knows where it is.

It doesn't take Dimitri long to find his army. He just takes Julius'. After all, Julius isn't exactly using them anymore.

And it turns out -- no -- vampires don't die from impact. When Vanessa and Julius get down to the ground, Sam is gone. That's not terrible at all... Oh, and it turns out Vanessa is having the exact same visions as Flesh and Doc (and apparently Julius) so it looks like everyone is heading to the same place.
