Welcome to season three of Van Helsing where the vampires are vampireier and the Van Helsing twins are … part Dracula? Things start out swinging, literally, as Vanessa wakes up to an Elder vampire standing over her. She takes it well, which is to say she starts with the punching. The Elder transforms into Dylan, then Scarlett, then Susan in an attempt to get Vanessa to, you know, not kill him. Somehow this works.

The Elder/Susan mind-melds Vanessa into a creepy garden where Scarlett and their mother are waiting, also confusingly mind-melded. Scarlett explains first the mother thing, then the Elder thing, then the "we're part Dracula" thing. Mommy Dearest offers up some scary warnings about The Dark One and tells her daughters to collect the totems from all the Elders before dying.

Meanwhile, a group of travellers is set upon by everyone's favorite vampire buddies: newly turned Mohamed and Sam the terrifying serial killer with a necklace of fingers. Oh, finger necklace, how we have not missed you.
405008
The Elder, still in the guise of Susan, tries to convince Vanessa not to bother going after the other Elders and their totems. It doesn't work, and Vanessa demands this Elder hand his over. Problem is, he doesn't have it, so Vanessa turns her attention to finding the Van Helsing family book instead.

Axel, Doc, Julius and company are still holed up at the safehouse, but it's becoming a hell of a lot less safe now that Dr. FrankenVampire has arrived. While some in the party wave the white flag, Axel grabs a gun and goes to find Scarlett.
405010
Oh, guess who else is here? FLESH! He is way less dead than we thought and ends up digging himself out of his own grave which is not at all suspicious when you have heavily armed visitors known for experimenting on vampires. To add insult to injury, Lucky is still exactly as dead as we thought.
405011
Axel's search for Scarlett ends pretty quickly as he finds her pinned down behind a stump trying not to engage with a group of Daywalkers. She fills him in on the whole "Abby was my mother" situation and he lets her know there's a nice big trap waiting for her back at the safehouse. Oh, and they've gotta go walk into it.
405012
Vanessa finds the Van Helsing family book with the fake Abigail who admits she is the one who infected Vanessa and Scarlett with the "Dark One" blood when they were kids. She just wanted to see what would happen. You know, like scientists do. It's okay, though, cause Vanessa stabbed her and she's like super dead now.
405013
Time for a jaunty fight scene! Scarlett and Axel make their way back to the safehouse just as our Doctor friend discovers that Julien has been infected by the Daywalkers. They murder the crap out of everyone. The little girl finishes off the last guy and Scarlett gets shot in the neck, but she's fine.
405014
Back at the facility, Vanessa finds a bit of red ribbon between the pages of the Van Helsing book, but before we can learn more, she goes to investigate some gunfire and discovers … EVERYONE ELSE! The band is officially back together so it's time to regroup.
405015
Of course, once they regroup ...it's time to split up again. Vanessa sends Julius, Doc and the others to try to find a safe zone in Denver. In a bit of a Hail Mary, Scarlett gives the Dark One blood to Doc in hopes it might help her find a vampiric cure.
405016
Vanessa, Scarlett and Axel stay behind because they've got a quest of their own. Vanessa wants to go find the rest of the Elders and of course her sister won't let her go alone. They reluctantly team up with the Elder and now it's off to kill some vampires.
