Meet the Cast of The Magicians
Get to know the faces behind the magic to come in 2016.
So yeah… The Magicians won't debut until allll the way in 2016, which feels like forever from now after you've seen THIS trailer, that leaves you wanting more, right? Fret not, here's a closer look at the faces of the series. You'll get to know more about their magician selves soon but in the meanwhile, get acquainted with the actors as themselves- they're a pretty cool group of characters.
The story:
Based upon Lev Grossman's best-selling books, The Magicians follows Quentin Coldwater, a brilliant grad student who enrolls in Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy, a secret upstate New York university specializing in magic. He and his 20-something friends soon discover that the magical fantasy world they read about as children is all too real— and poses grave danger to humanity.
Meet the Magicians:
Jason Ralph as Quentin Coldwater
According to his Twitter bio, Jason Ralph is "…a person who does things and not an alien impostor." That said, Jason has "done things" in series such as: Aquarius, Grace and Frankie, Madam Secretary, Blue Bloods and Gossip Girl. He also appeared in the crime drama A Most Violent Year.
Fun fact: Jason is the co-founder of the New York based theatre company, Strangemen & Co., which is "designed to rock your socks" according to their website.

Stella Maeve as Julia
Stella Maeve is best known for her appearances in the films The Runaways, Transamerica, Starlet and Brooklyn's Finest. She's appeared in television series that include: Chicago P.D., Rizzoli & Isles and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Hale Appleman as Eliot
Hale's stage credits are a mile or so long, having made appearances in the Roundabout Theatre's revival of Steamers, Paradise Lost at the American Repertory Theater and Moonchildren at the Berkshire Theatre Festival, among other credits. He's best known to film audiences for his performance in Teeth.
Fun fact: Hale graduated from the famed LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts and Carnegie Mellon University's School of Drama. So basically, he's kind of a big deal in the theatre world.

Arjun Gupta as Penny
Arjun is an actor and a producer who's known for his turns in popular series like How to Get Away with Murder and Nurse Jackie. Arjun's film credits include Bridge and Tunnel, Stand Up Guys and Love, Lies & Seeta.
Fun fact: Arjun is the co-founder of American Desis, a podcast that explores what it means to be South Asian in America.

Summer Bishil as Margo
Summer began her acting career as a teen, appearing in popular Nickelodeon series Just for Kicks and Drake and Josh. She also appeared in the Disney series Hannah Montana back when Miley was still a very innocent Cyrus. More recently, Summer has appeared in Lucky 7, the reboot of 90210 and iZombie. Film credits include Mooz-Lum and M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender.
Fun fact: Summer was born in Pasadena, California but she and her family moved overseas when she was three, to Saudi Arabia and later to Bahrain. She returned back to the states when she was nearly 14 years old.

Olivia Taylor Dudley as Alice
Olivia will play the shy and delicate Alice in The Magicians but Olivia's past acting credits are anything but innocent. She's appeared in dark films like The Vatican Tapes, Chernobyl Diaries, Transcendence and The Barber. Olivia has lent her talent to television series that include: Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, The Mindy Project, Arrested Development and The Comedians.
Fun fact: Olivia is a part of 5 Second Films, a collective that creates new films every weekday. Yep, every weekday.
