WIRE Buzz: New Mutants offers first look at Lockheed; Snyder Cut teases first trailer; Bill & Ted
Dracarys! The New Mutants has unleashed our very first look at the purple alien dragon known as Lockheed in a new promo for the horror-centric X-Men film, which is set to (finally!) open in theaters next week.
Created by Chris Claremont and Paul Smith in the early 1980s, Lockheed was the member of an alien race, who returned to Earth with Kitty Pryde (aka Shadowcat). The two formed a close bond and ended up as founding members of the British Marvel team known as Excalibur. In New Mutants, however, Lockheed will be the pet of Anya Taylor-Joy's Illyana Rasputin/Magik. Right now, it's unclear if he's from outer space or another dimension.
Check it out at the 19-second mark:
Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) directed the film from a script he co-wrote with his childhood friend, Knate Lee. Based on Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz's "Demon Bear" saga, the superhero movie also stars Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Blu Hunt, Henry Zaga, and Alice Braga.
This project marks the final X-Men film produced by 20th Century Fox. The studio was purchased by Disney last year, which means the mutants can now be introduced into the MCU.
Here's a new poster you may not have seen yet:
The New Mutants arrives in theaters next Friday, Aug. 28.
It's been a strange and difficult start to the new decade to say the least, but hey, at least the Snyder Cut of Justice League is actually happening. Not only that, but fans will get to view the very first teaser trailer during the movie's DC FanDome panel tomorrow afternoon.
This was confirmed by Zack Snyder himself on Twitter with a bite-sized teaser of the teaser. A staggering Cyborg (Ray Fisher), slo-mo Flash (Ezra Miller), and a blatant lack of orange color correction for the big finale are just a few of the things that stood out in this tantalizing snippet.
Watch now:
The panel will take place at 5:30 p.m. EST in the Hall of Heroes. Snyder is taking part with some "special guests," who will most likely be Fisher, Miller, Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Ben Affleck (Batman), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Ray Porter (Darkseid), and Henry Cavill (Superman).

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are just the tip of the Wyld Stallyns iceberg. It's time to meet the central players of Bill & Ted Face the Music in a new featurette.
With just a week to go until the movie rocks onto our screens, you'll want to get yourself up to speed on all the different characters you should expect to meet. From historical figures (like Motzart and Ling Lun) to futuristic robots (Anthony Carrigan's Dennis Caleb McCoy), it looks like the third entry in this most excellent franchise will be playing the greatest hits from the first two films.
Kristen Schaal, Samara Weaving, Brigette Lundy-Paine, Erinn Hayes, Jayma Mays, Holland Taylor, Kid Cudi, William Sadler, and Jillian Bell co-star.
In addition, Orion Pictures is trying to set a Guinness World Record for "most people air-guitaring online simultaneously." Partnering with 2019's Air Guitar World Champion, Rob "The Marquis" Messel, the company will host a virtual gathering Monday, Aug. 24 to unite the world for one rockin' attempt at imaginary musical glory. Helmed by Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest), Face the Music arrives on VOD and in select theaters Aug. 28.
