The 5 things we’re most excited for in The Umbrella Academy's groovy, '60s-set Season 2
When Season 2 of Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy premieres at the end of this month, the Hargreeves will be fighting to save the world ... again. Only this time, they’re stuck in the '60s and are separated across a three-year span. If they thought the first apocalypse was bad, the sequels are about to take this superhero family on the ride of a lifetime.
When we last left off, a power surge from The White Violin blew a hole through the moon. As pieces came hurtling toward Earth the Hargreeves gathered together on a mission to save the world. Since there’s nothing to go forward to besides a destroyed world, they took a step back into the past, diverging from the comic source material by leaps and bounds.
Before Season 2 drops, here are five things we’re excited to see when The Umbrella Academy returns to our Netflix screens.
01. Learning where the Hargreeves ended up
According to the Netflix synopsis for The Umbrella Academy’s sophomore season, the Hargreeves have been scattered throughout time. Over a three year period, starting in 1960, they try to reunite and stop not one, but two apocalypses. But the question remains, what have they been doing for those three years and who ended up where? From what we can tell, and from the first-look photos, Allison/The Rumor (Emmy Raver-Lampman) has settled down, while wild child Klaus/The Seance (Robert Sheehan) looks like an even bigger hippie with the flowing hair and gorgeous locks. Finding out what the rest of the family has been up to should be a fun way to kick off the second season.
02. Klaus in as many skirts as he can find
Yes, we appreciate and love the thought of Klaus looking like a hippie after our own hearts. In fact, we bet that he’s got a whole flock of followers ready and willing to do what is needed for the all mighty Klaus. But we’re hoping to get Klaus in a couple of skirts in season two of The Umbrella Academy. Perhaps a floral print or a faux leather skirt with a slit that goes all the way up. Maybe he’ll inspire his followers to do the same thing? We can only hope!
03. Who the bad guys actually are?
So far, we know that Number Five (Aidan Gallagher) lands himself right in the middle of a nuclear doomsday as a result of the Hargreeves disrupting the timeline. Netflix gave fans an early first look at the bad guys that stand in his way — and we’re left with more questions. How are these silver-haired goons responsible for a nuclear disaster? What’s up with the overalls? Who are they confronting? Personally, we think it’s the milkman. Never trusted those guys...
04. Vanya training her powers
Vanya/The White Violin (Ellen Page) started one apocalypse only to find herself stuck smack dab in the middle of another one. And even though we’re not sure if she initially made it to the 1960s by her lonesome, we’re excited to figure out all the different facets of her powers. She’s the most powerful Hargreeves (We said what we said!) and her training is going to be key in figuring out what the milkman and the rest of his goons want.
05. All that flowing hair!
If the manes on Diego (David Castaneda) and Klaus are anything to go by, the ‘60s have given us flowing locks from here to kingdom come. And we’re here for it! Diego is personally looking handsome with the beard and shoulder-length hair. Allison is channeling her inner BAMF into a classic beehive. While Klaus is looking like he just stepped off the pages of a magazine dedicated to anything and everything flower child-related. Whatever is going on in the costume department, we applaud you!
The Umbrella Academy Season 2 hits Netflix on Friday, July 31.
