Exclusive: Sundance horror The Hole in the Ground unleashes spidery terror in new clip
Indie films have always been a great place to find horror films, and Sundance is the festival for high-profile indies to make their mark. That’s why horror fans should be hyped over the supernatural and utterly freaky-looking feature debut from writer/director Lee Cronin.
Premiering at Sundance and already acquired by A24 (which, with The Witch and Hereditary under its belt, certainly seems to have an eye for festival horror hits), The Hole in the Ground is about the hardships of motherhood (Babadook, anyone?) that are emphasized when Irish mom Sarah (Seána Kerslake) and her son, Chris, move to the countryside. Then Chris disappears into a nearby forest’s spooky sinkhole. Uh-oh. When he returns... something’s not quite right. Is that even her kid?
To help answer that question, SYFY WIRE is debuting an exclusive clip that definitely scores points in the favor of body-snatching and/or possession and/or otherwise disguised evil. There’s just no way a normal kid would do this.
Take a look at the clip above.
Yum. Delicious spiders. That’s one house that’s in definite need of an exorcism.
Horror fans can already catch The Hole in the Ground on DIRECTV, or they can wait for the film to hit theaters on March 1.
