You wanna get nuts? Let's get nuts! The DC Multiverse busted wide open Saturday afternoon with a FanDome sneak peek at Ezra Miller's solo outing as everyone's favorite Scarlet Speedster. Scheduled to cross the theatrical finish line next fall, the movie is helmed by It director and Locke & Key producer Andy Muschietti (who took control of the project in 2019 after several filmmaker exits), working off a Flashpoint-inspired screenplay by Birds of Prey writer, Christina Hodson.

“We’re very excited to show you the movie and we can’t yet because we’re still making it," Miller said in a special message from the movie's set. "We wanted to show you a teaser, but we can’t because we don’t have enough material to make a teaser yet. We can’t make a trailer, but we do have this small sneak peek that my maestro, Andy, and I have put together that we really hope you’ll enjoy."

The ensuing footage was technically a teaser, but we'll let this small issue of semantics slide because we are so pumped by what we've seen and heard. The teaser itself has not been released outside the DC FanDome live stream event.

Using his lightning-fast abilities, Barry Allen travels back in time to prevent the death of his mother, Nora (Maribel Verdul), and exonerate his father, Henry (Ron Livington taking over from Billy Crudup). But as we all know, the butterfly effect is a real pain in the backside and the hero's well-intentioned plan unintentionally leads to a dystopian future in which the Justice League was never formed.

Oh, and there's also that teeny-tiny matter of the multiverse tearing apart at the seams, paving the way for other versions of the Flash (nothing new for the character since Miller already crossed paths with Grant Gustin's Barry Allen on The CW), Sasha Calle's Supergirl, and the return of the legendary Michael Keaton as Tim Burton-era Batman. In fact, you can clearly hear Keaton's grizzled Bruce Wayne musing on the topic of other universes and timelines.

"By opening that door that Flashpoint did in the comics, all of these stories and characters can start to collide," Miller said at the first edition of DC FanDome in August 2020.

Kiersey Clemons (Iris West), Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne/Batman, the designer of Barry's new suit), Gal Gadot (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman), and Jason Momoa (Arthur Curry/Aquaman) co-star. Ray Fisher was originally asked to cameo as Cyborg along his fellow League members, but Warner Bros. rescinded the offer following the actor's refusal to work with DC Films President, Walter Hamada.

"My Flash is not gonna be light or dark in tone, it’s gonna have everything," Muschietti teased last fall. "If you saw my previous movies like It and It [Chapter2, you’ll notice that I like to put everything in it. What you will see in Flash is a very deep, emotional story, but it’s also gonna very funny and a great, epic adventure at the same time. [But] also terrifying for some of the time … get ready."

The Flash heads for theaters on Nov. 4, 2022.
