The Expanse's new NYCC trailer is out of this world
The Expanse didn't just drop its entire premiere episode on New York Comic Con-goers this week; it also gave those who couldn't attend the Comic Con panel a new sneak peek into the upcoming fourth season.
The show may be looking to the future, but as the new trailer teases, nothing is guaranteed for its characters. Nobody knows what dangers lurk on the other side of the Ring Gates: new treasures, worlds, and civilizations, for sure. But with all that come the hazards built to protect them, and the new footage lets fans into this interstellar gold rush right alongside the crew of the Rocinante.
Check it out:
Leaning into President John F. Kennedy's eyes-forward oratory at the dawn of the U.S. space race, the trailer serves up a dose of historic-feeling gravitas, even as it speeds through a VFX-heavy sizzle reel. It’s a striking juxtaposition, one that solidifies the show’s place in Amazon’s overall push to attract a loyal audience to the Amazon Prime Video platform.
The fan-favorite James S.A. Corey adaptation also showed off the first episode of the new season (entitled "New Terra," directed by Breck Eisner and written by showrunning team Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby) at NYCC. SYFY WIRE was there, and we've got the full rundown of how it all sets up the show's fourth season — which, as the showrunners explained, will be heavily informed by allegorical themes borrowed from the concept of the "European invasion of America."
With a fifth season already in the works, Season 4 will be here before you know it. The Expanse returns to Amazon Prime Video starting on Dec. 13.
