Superman's early adventures blast off in this action-packed clip from 'Superman: Man of Tomorrow'

By Jacob Oller
Superman: Man of Tomorrow still

The Batman may be exploring Bruce Wayne's early days trying on the cowl and solving crimes (aka beating up anyone who looks at him funny after dark), but what were Clark Kent's first few adventures like? Superman: Man of Tomorrow, an upcoming animated film from director Chris Palmer and writer Tim Sheridan, looks to shed light on how the hero went from Daily Planet intern to international hero of the planet — and SYFY WIRE has an exclusive clip.

While the first trailer for the film — which includes a star-studded cast like Darren Criss as Superman, Zachary Quinto as Lex Luthor, and Alexandra Daddario as Lois Lane — showed off Supes' fights with big names like Lobo and Parasite, this scene is more about the day-to-day heroics of Clark Kent. Like, what do you do when Lex Luthor's rocket goes dangerously awry?

Take a look:

The answer to the above question, of course, is to throw it into the sun. Just make sure your goggles are on tight. Luthor seems to be momentarily captured in the clip, but security and Metropolis police never seem to hold onto the slippery one-percenter for long.

Those intrigued by the film's setting and new Archer-like art style are in luck: Superman: Man of Tomorrow will screen in its entirety at Saturday's DC FanDome! Fans can watch the film at 4:15 p.m. PT in the WatchVerse/Kandor section of the free, streamed 24-hour con, with a panel discussion following at 5:45 p.m. PT.

Superman: Man of Tomorrow also stars Ryan Hurst, Ike Amadi, Brett Dalton, Neil Flynn, Bellamy Young, Cristina Milizia, Eugene Byrd, April Stewart, Piotr Michael, Cissy Jones, and David Chen. Superman: Man of Tomorrow hits digital on Aug. 23 and on 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack and Blu-ray Combo Pack on Sept. 8.
