No Time to Die: The past can kill in latest action-packed trailer for Daniel Craig's final Bond film
Months after delaying its theatrical release to November as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, No Time to Die has dropped a new, action-packed trailer for what will be Daniel Craig's final James Bond movie.
Helmed by Cary Fukunaga (True Detective, Maniac), the film sees 007 calling it quits with Dr. Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux) and retiring to a quiet life in Jamaica, a tropical locale with deep roots in the Bond canon. James is brought back into active duty when his old buddy from the CIA, Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright), asks for his help in locating a kidnapped scientist named Valdo Obruchev (David Dencik).
Bond reluctantly agrees and soon finds himself squaring off with his most vicious adversary yet: the scar-faced and Dr. No-looking Safin (Oscar-winner Rami Malek), who's got a secret history with Swann and a stylish nehru jacket. Luckily, MI6's favorite spy will have back-up from Nomi (Captain Marvel's Lashana Lynch) and Paloma (Knives Out's Ana de Armas). Lynch makes franchise history as the first woman of color to occupy the role of a 00-agent.

James' team of allies also features Eve Moneypenny (Naomie Harris), Q (Ben Whishaw), and, believe it or not, Ernest Stavro Blofeld (Christoph Waltz) in a Hannibal Lecter-type consulting role. In fact, it sounds like Safin (out for a little revenge and genocide) was an old adversary of Blofeld's. The lives of millions hang in the balance, so the dramatic stakes are fittingly high for Mr. Craig's franchise swan song. To quote both Sterling Archer and Kenny Loggins, he's back in the DANGER ZONE!!!
"I can see why you shot him," Nomi says to Moneypenny in a nice little callback to the opening of Skyfall. Eve, used to the deadly exploits experienced by her long-running secret agent colleague by now, wrly responds with, "Yeah, well, everyone tries at least once."
MGM's decision to postpone the film's rollout proved to be incredibly wise, as major theater chains began to shutter their doors about two weeks later. They continued to remain closed until late August. No Time to Die was actually one of the very first 2020 Hollywood blockbusters to recognize the potential fallout of the COVID-19 health crisis, which has heavily impacted the financial viability of the entertainment industry (among many others).
Like Craig, Wright, Harris, Whishaw, Seydoux, and Waltz, Ralph Fiennes ("M") Rory Kinnear ("Bill Tanner") return to play their characters from previous installments. Lynch, Armas, Malek, Dencik, Dali Benssalah, and Billy Magnussen are among the project's fresh faces.

Fukunaga, Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Scott Z. Burns all contributed to the screenplay. Fukunaga's involvement marks another series first, as he is the first American filmmaker to direct a Bond movie in the official Eon-produced canon.
Barring any further pandemic-related delays, No Time to Die will hit theaters in the U.K. Saturday, Nov. 12 before making its way to North America Friday, Nov. 25.
