Muppets Now features Seth Rogen, RuPaul, more in first hilarious trailer

Muppets Now Fozzie

Muppets Now, the unscripted take on genre's beloved Jim Henson creations heading to Disney+, got fans of Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew hyped for a return to the characters' The Muppet Show roots. A variety show with plenty of music and celebrities just makes sense for these lovable wackos.

The show's framing device is that Scooter is trying very, very hard "to make his delivery deadlines and upload the brand-new Muppet series for streaming." Of course, the rest of the Muppets certainly don't make that job — or any job involving rules or schedules — easy. Now those hoping to get a glimpse at what the new series' six episodes hold are in luck, as Disney+ has dropped a first-look teaser for the show today.

Check it out:

Joe from the legal department really, really doesn't want Kermit to tease out the guest stars coming this season (including Seth Rogen, RuPaul, Aubrey Plaza, and more). It's a self-effacing jab at the top-secret marketing world of spoilers — which Disney often plays a big part in — but also looks to bring the Muppets back to basics with a celebrity-focused variety show of goofball antics.

Muppets Now hits Disney+ on July 31.
