The feud lives: Hugh Jackman trolls Ryan Reynolds in 'superheroic' ads for their coffee, gin companies
It's Deadpool vs. Wolverine — the rematch!
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman put their "differences" aside to produce ads for their gin and coffee companies, but things did not go as expected.
In a new video posted to Twitter, we see the Deadpool and Wolverine actors sitting together in a studio. Jackman explains that the two have declared "a truce" over their recent spats on social media and, as a show of good faith, decided to make commercials for Aviation Gin (owned by Reynolds) and Laughing Man Coffee (owned by Jackman).
As it turns out, only one of them thought the ceasefire was real.
Watch the hilarity unfold in the tweet below:
Reynolds' ad for Laughing Man is a beautifully produced thing, playing up Jackman's heroic roles in the X-Men universe as well as the company's goal to improve the lives of coffee farmers. When it ends, Jackman looks genuinely shocked; clearly, he wasn't expecting something like that.
Reynolds quips that the spot cost $1 million to produce and that he's eager to see what his friend has come up with for Aviation Gin. Jackman tries to stall for time, saying that his commercial isn't ready to be shown, but Reynolds won't take no for an answer. The gin ad turns out to be Jackman sitting on a couch and saying... well, you'll just have to watch it yourself.
Cutting back to the studio, we see Reynolds' face of complete shock and betrayal while Jackman says he didn't think that the truce was actually genuine. Well, looks like the feud is back on, folks.
Reynolds next appears as a talking CGI Pokémon in Detective Pikachu (out May 10), while Jackman's next cinematic project is as monster hunter/explorer Sir Lionel Frost in Laika's animated film Missing Link (out April 10).
