Get a first look at Joaquin Phoenix in the Joker movie
Apparently, the day after Batman Day is Revenge of the Joker Day.
We might finally have our first glimpse of the Clown Prince of Crime. In true mysterious Joker fashion, the director of the standalone Joker origin film starring Joaquin Phoenix, Todd Phillips, posted a tantalizing mug shot of the actor at work on his personal Instagram account. It looks like a screen test of Phoenix with a stern look through his long brown hair. The caption simply states "Arthur." Now, we ask, who is Arthur? Maybe Arthur will tell us how Joker got the scars?
While Phoenix doesn't care about what our expectations are for his portrayal, the cast list continues to pique our interest. We know that Deadpool 2's Zazie Beetz, Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro, and GLOW co-star Marc Maron are in the film -- but we have no clue as to who they're playing from the vast Batman lore.
Does this Arthur mug shot give you more confidence in the pre-Joker film, or are you keeping your reservations at bay? Join the conversation in the comments below.
The Joker movie is set to be released on Oct. 4, 2019.
