'Wolf Like Me': Josh Gad, Isla Fisher sink their teeth into first trailer for genre-melding Peacock series
All six, 30-minute episodes of Wolf Like Me will arrive on Peacock Thursday, Jan. 13.
Peacock is certainly howling at the moon with a new trailer for its "genre-bending romantic dramedy" series, Wolf Like Me.
Hailing from creator, executive producer, and director Abe Foresythe (Little Monsters), the show tells the story of Gary (played by Frozen's Josh Gad), a grieving widower trying to provide for his young, panic-stricken daughter. Gary eventually finds solace in new girlfriend, Mary (played by Wedding Crashers' Isla Fisher), a widow harboring a deep dark secret about the death of her husband. What could it be? Is Mary just a wolf in sheep's clothing as the lupine title suggests? We'll know soon enough!
“I'd love for audiences to go into watching the series not knowing where it's going or what gets revealed as the show progresses because I think if that happens, then it's going to shock and surprise people," Forsythe said in a statement. "You get to the end of every episode and there's a reason that you have to keep watching."
Check out the trailer below:
“We fell in love with Abe Forsythe’s imaginative storytelling and gift for creating complex and compelling characters. With the incredibly talented Isla Fisher and Josh Gad at the center, Wolf Like Me will be engaging, quirky, and wholly original,” Lisa Katz, President, Scripted Content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, said in April of this year when Peacock placed a straight-to-series order for the project.
"Wolf Like Me is a very meaningful project for me," added Forsythe. "The stakes are extremely high but grounded by things we can all relate to. I’m so excited to have Isla and Josh on board, and I know the audience will be surprised seeing them in a different way as these characters.”
Forsythe is no stranger to the world of genre mashups, having written and directed 2019's Little Monsters, a hybrid of horror and comedy about a preschool teacher (Black Panther's Lupita Nyong'o) trying to protect her young students from a zombie horde in Australia. Gad also starred in the movie, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to generally positive reviews, prompting Neon and Hulu to snap up the distribution rights for an undisclosed seven-figure sum.
Gad and Fisher serve as an executive producers on the new show, alongside Forsythe, Jodi Matterson (Roar), Bruna Papandrea (Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers), and Steve Hutensky (Queen America).
All six, 30-minute episodes of Wolf Like Me arrive exclusively on Peacock Thursday, Jan. 13.
Peacock & SYFY WIRE are both owned by NBCUniversal.
