WIRE Buzz: Lucifer to resume production; Sabrina showrunner hints at second life; more

The first part of Lucifer Season 5 may have just dropped on to Netflix recently, but that won't stop eager fans from already craving more, seeing as the show is already one of the streaming platform's most-watched shows in August, having featured on the "Daily Top 10" list pretty regularly since the Aug. 21 season premiere.

Well, according to TVLine, the wait for the next half of the season shouldn't be too long as it would appear that the series will be resuming production on Sept. 24, months after it had been forced to shut down due to the global coronavirus pandemic. 

Once back up, the show will immediately wrap up filming for the 16th and final episode of the fifth season, before directly going into shooting the show's sixth and final season immediately after. 

This isn't the first show to begin shooting again, with Netflix' The Witcher already back in action, along with Amazon's Wheel of Time adaptation, and the final two episodes of The CW's Supernatural. 

No news on when the second half of Season 5 will premiere.  

And speaking of shows slowly coming up to the end: Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the showrunner of Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina — which was cancelled earlier this summer — seems to be hinting at possible life beyond the show's early TV grave in a post he made on Instagram. 

The video Aguirre-Sacasa posted depicts the house that is the now-iconic Spellman residence on the series slowly being torn down by a building crew. 

"Prepare yourselves, Coven. This one is brutal," shared the Riverdale showrunner. "A lot of love and magic went into this witch-house. A lot of memories were made within its walls. A lot of late nights were spent here. With a lot of mosquitoes and a lot of frogs. And a lot of wonderful people all dreaming the same dark dream. (I always picture @kiernanshipka in her special chair, sleeping soundly, with her familiar Frankie guarding her.)"

Aguirre-Sacasa went on to discuss how the set-piece came to be: "Before shooting started, we spent many, many weeks looking for the Spellman house. In the end, our incredible production designer @lieselottesoper said: 'I think we need to build it. This has to be as iconic as the Psycho house.' And that’s what Lisa and her team made. She was there today when they knocked it down. And she saved certain things, including the house’s weathervane. (And maybe the odd wooden frog or two." 

And just because things are over, it doesn't mean you can't take some keepsakes — as Aguirre-Sacasa goes on to describe — though he seems to hint they'll play a part in what's to come next: "We haven’t seen the last of that weathervane. As Zelda says in Part Four: 'There is no death for witches. Only transformation.' The story of the witches of Greendale isn’t over. We still have Part Four, waiting for you, with the Eldritch terrors. And after that... Well, come closer and I’ll tell you a secret..."

While Aguirre-Sacasa seems to be keeping all his (tarot?) cards close to his chest, there are a few possibilities for what life after Netflix could look like for the series, including a possible comic book continuation — especially with Aguirre-Sacasa being the one who wrote the comic Netflix adapted the series from. The other option would be a possible appearance by Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) and Co. on Riverdale, seeing as their town of Greendale is actually close by, and she actually lives in Riverdale in the comics, even teaming up with Jughead at one point in the recent series! However, there is the tiny issue that magic has yet to make an appearance on The CW series. Then again, maybe that would explain Jughead's appetite! 

The final eight episodes of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will air later this fall on Netflix. No premiere date has been set yet. 

And last but not least, if you're looking forward to the new season of Star Trek: Discovery — or possibly rewatching it when it airs on CBS — but need a little something extra to tip your viewing experience over the edge, then perhaps what you need is some Star Trek wine.  

CNET reports that Star Trek Wines will be selling two different kinds of wine inspired by the series, and produced by winemaker Andrew Nelson. 

The first is a limited edition Klingon Bloodwine, which according to the description tastes not unlike Cabernet Sauvignon. (Other species, they're just like us!) The "ceremonial drink" is made from grapes cultivated to produce strong fruit that "glisten a vibrant ruby color in the glass." The wine bottle's packaging will include a unique mesh texture on the outside to provide an "authentic look and feel." It will also be hand-filled and expertly wax-dipped, and feature corks with one of four sayings on them, each one celebrating the Klingon culture and language. 

The second wine is a United Federation of Planets Special Reserve Sauvignon Blanc, made from north coast California grapes. According to the description, this wine has flavors of "elegant tropical fruits and white peach burst forth with a refined acidity that balances the ripe citrus aromas" and is meant to pair well with the United Federation of Planets Old Vine Zinfandel. 

The packaging for this wine features a bottle with a "futuristic round shape" and a "unique label cut" that is inspired by StarFleet Delta, and also referencing Star Trek: The Next Generation. Each bottle of this also limited edition wine will be individually numbered.
