'Uncharted' looking for treasure and glory in final high-flying trailer; tickets on sale this weekend
Uncharted exclusively hits the big screen Friday, Feb. 18.
The hunt is on for $5 billion worth of golden treasure in the final trailer for Sony Pictures' long-awaited Uncharted movie (out in theaters everywhere next month). Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) has been dreaming about this incredible wealth his entire life, but it's not until he meets Victor "Sully" Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) does that fantasy take a step toward becoming a reality.
The only things standing in their way are inscrutable clues, ruthless mercenaries, airlifted galleons, and other death-defying set pieces you can only get from a heated race to find valuable artifacts. It'll be more than enough to tide audiences over until Indiana Jones 5 finally opens in summer 2023.
Antonio Banderas plays the film's main antagonist, Moncada, a man who believes that he's got a familial right to the treasure, which was lost centuries ago by famed Portuguese navigator, Ferdinand Magellan. Sophia Ali and Tati Gabrielle round out the principal cast as Chloe Frazer (an ally of Nathan and Sully) and Braddock (Moncada's trusted hench-person), respectively.
Fandango dropped the latest round of footage along with the announcement of tickets going on sale this Sunday (Jan. 30).

"As the industry sits in a bit of a quiet corridor at the box office and No Way Home continues its amazing dominance of the multiplex, Tom Holland’s drawing power in a role outside of Spider-Man will be put to the test when Uncharted hits screens in mid-February," Paul Dergarabedian, Senior Media Analyst at Comscore, tells SYFY WIRE. "Many a Marvel star has had difficulty breaking out beyond their core fan base in other roles, but Holland seems to have that magic glow around him, so hopefully the pent up demand for a brand-new action-style movie — along with the added star power of Mark Wahlberg — can give Uncharted a shot at bridging the gap for movie theaters between Spider-Man and The Batman with a solid box office performance."
Based on the hit video game franchise published by Naughty Dog, Uncharted 's screenplay was penned by Rafe Lee Judkins, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway. Judkins — who currently occupies the role of showrunner for Amazon's The Wheel of Time — conceived of the screen story with Jon Hanley Rosenberg and Mark D. Walker.
Zombieland and Venom alum Ruben Fleischer serves as director and executive producer. Prior to his hiring in early 2020, David O. Russell, Shawn Levy, Dan Trachtenberg, and Travis Knight had all been attached to direct.
Holland, Marcum, Holloway, Robert J. Dohrmann, David Bernad, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Neil Druckmann, and Evan Wells are also executive producers. Charles Roven, Avi Arad, Alex Gartner, and Ari Arad produce.
