TV THIS WEEK: The Simpsons 'Treehouse of Horror,' What If…? finale, Muppets Haunted Mansion, La Brea & more

By Trent Moore

If you've been having trouble getting into the Halloween mood, we have some good news — this week's TV is loaded with enough spooky, scary shows and movies to get just about anyone in the mood for a good fright. If you're still not ready for scares, we have plenty of thrills and twists, too. Let's dig in.

The Disney+ special Muppets Haunted Mansion makes its debut this week, along with the season finale of Marvel's animated What If...? series (which promises one heck of a MCU-busting shake-up after last week's Ultra-Ultron-centric episode). NBC has the second episode of its hit sci-fi mystery thriller La Brea, which ripped a sinkhole to... somewhere last week, and we're dying to find out more. The CW has plenty of new stuff, including that Legends of the Hidden Temple revival, the season finale of Riverdale, the season premiere of Nancy Drew, and more.

The Simpsons is dropping its annual "Treehouse of Horrors" special this week and AMC has a loaded zombie slate with The Walking Dead's midseason finale, plus a new episode of The Walking Dead: World Beyond. Paramount Plus has the Season 2 finale of the excellent horror series EVIL and HBO Max has new episodes of DC shows Doom Patrol and Titans. If you're jonesing for a few more chills, SYFY has the network premiere of the recent horror adaptation Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.

Check out the full rundown below.
