TV THIS WEEK: Black Widow and Wellington Paranormal premiere; Diggle returns on The Flash; Resident Evil & more
This week is relatively light on big, new TV stuff — but the summer movie streaming season continues to pick up the slack with a few more blockbusters dropping to keep us busy.
Not surprisingly, the big story this week is the long-awaited premiere of Marvel Studios' Black Widow film, which is getting a post-pandemic dual release in theaters and via Premier Access on Disney+ for an additional cost. It's poised to be one of the biggest movies of the year, and definitely wins our week. Beyond that, we also have the premiere of the second film in the Fear Street film trilogy on Netflix, which takes the action back to the 1970s.
These two films come on the heels of last week's big streaming releases, which included The Boss Baby: Family Business on Peacock and The Tomorrow War on Prime Video (not to mention that first Fear Street movie on Netflix). So there are plenty of movies to check out at home, in case you're not quite ready, able, or comfortable to return to the cineplex.
On the TV side of things, Netflix is debuting its original CGI Resident Evil series Infinite Darkness, and The CW has the U.S. premiere of What We Do in the Shadows spinoff series Wellington Paranormal (the show will also be streaming on HBO Max). The CW also has a few new shows this week, most interestingly The Flash, which will feature the return of Arrow fan favorite John Diggle (David Ramsey) to Central City. Fox has a new LEGO Masters, SYFY has some MCU movies to get you primed for Black Widow, and of course Disney+ has a new episode of Loki.
Check out the full rundown below.
