'The Flash' reportedly speeding ahead with Grant Gustin and a 9th season
The Flash himself, Grant Gustin, is close to signing a contract to be in 15 episodes of a 9th season on The CW.
It looks like The CW’s The Flash is rushing along to another season. According to Deadline, Grant Gustin (aka Barry Allen, aka The Flash) is in final negotiations with Warner Bros. and Berlanti Productions to take part in another season of the DC show.
If The Flash gets another season, it will beat out Arrow for being the longest-running Arrowverse show. Gustin’s new contract is reportedly only for one season at 15 episodes, though he was offered a multi-year deal. The terms are also reported to come with a raise that will be higher than $200,000 per episode.
The Flash’s showrunner Eric Wallace had said over a year ago that he had plans for an eighth and ninth season of the show, and that Gustin’s contract was the major question on whether that would happen or not.
“I have so many stories I am dying to tell on this show," Wallace said at the time. "It's funny, I had a dream last night and in the dream, I might have just solved who the villain is and the entire arc for Barry, Iris, and the villain for Season 8, and dripping into Season 9. So, you know, I'm ready to go. I'll do the show as long as The CW will give me the pleasure and privilege — and Warner Bros. too — of being able to have fun playing in this sandbox."
If these final negotiations go through, it looks like Wallace will get his wish. No news yet on if/when Season 9 would premiere, but we do know that Season 8 of The Flash comes back on March 9 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
