The search is on for Eden & a better future in new trailer for Season 3 of TNT's 'Snowpiercer'
Season 3 of the hit sci-fi series returns to TNT Monday, Jan. 24 at 9 p.m. EST.
One man's devastating climate change is another man's treasure. The folks living in the icy and dystopian apocalypse of Snowpiercer are actually hoping for a bit of the toastiness that comes from an atmospheric build-up of greenhouse gases in the official trailer for Season 3 of TNT's hit sci-fi adaptation.
Now in control of a "pirate train" of 10 cars, Andre Layton (Daveed Diggs) hopes to locate the missing Melanie (Jennifer Connelly), whose bravery led her out into the frozen tundra to find a map that may hold the key to humanity's future. Even if she's gone forever, Layton has an opportunity to lead his people to "a brighter future ... beyond the train" known as "New Eden," a part of the frozen planet that has miraculously thawed, offering up higher temperatures, lush greenery, and a new shot at the old way of living.
Back on the rest of the thousand-car train, inventor and self-appointed demagogue Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean) consolidates his power as he eagerly awaits for Layton to return. The locomotive's power-hungry creator doesn't believe in hope — only a world in which others are forced to follow his draconian rules for end-of-the-world survival. It's enough to drive anyone off the rails...and we mean that quite literally because by the looks of things, Wilford's got himself a giant harpoon gun capable of knocking other parts of the convoy off the predetermined tracks.
"He's quite charming, but he's not a very nice man, if you have to live with him or be in his presence," Bean said of the villain at New York Comic Con 2020. "He's a bit of a psychopath. I guess they're quite charming, but they're backstabbers. He's that kind of character, and he's not afraid of kind of displaying his cruelty because he thinks that's clever and it's for the greater good."
