Shazam 2 title and new cast member unveiled at DC FanDome panel

There wasn't a whole lot to talk about at the DC FanDome panel for the second Shazam movie, but the short (six minutes!) discussion revealed two important pieces of information.

First, the movie is officially called Shazam: Fury of the Gods, and second, comedian and actor Sinbad will be joining the cast in a yet-to-be-disclosed role.

Sinbad's involvement in the film was revealed after star Zachary Levi (Shazam) was joined by fellow cast members Asher Angel (Billy Batson), Jack Dylan Grazer (Freddy Freeman), Adam Brody (adult Freddy), Faithe Herman (young Darla), Meagan Good (adult Darla), and director David F. Sandberg.

Herman offered to draw a poster for the film, quickly holding up an obviously professional image of the cast with Sinbad front and center. The actor immediately popped up on Zoom with the rest of the cast members, saying that people thought he was in the first Shazam but that he is going to rectify that with a "big, prominent role" in the sequel.

The title was revealed next, also in artwork held up onscreen by Herman.

Levi provided a humorous intro in which he scanned a list of fan questions that he couldn't answer, including whether there will be a cameo by another DC character in the film and also whether Talky Tawny, the speaking tiger from the comics, will appear in the second entry. Although a mid-credits scene in the first film hinted that longtime Shazam enemy Mister Mind would show up as a villain, that has not been confirmed yet either.

And that was basically it! Although Sandberg dropped a funny fake trailer for the movie last week, there is much about Shazam: Fury of the Gods that we still don't know. But now we do have a title and a "prominent" new cast member. Barring any unforeseen delays, the movie will arrive Nov. 4, 2022.
