With Supergirl flying off into the proverbial sunset early next month, a fan favorite character is heading over to Superman & Lois. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jenna Dewan is reprising her role as Lucy Lane on The CW show’s upcoming sophomore season

Dewan, who first played Lois Lane’s sister on the debut season of Supergirl (back when it was on CBS), is set to be a recurring player on the spinoff series starring Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch. Since Tulloch didn’t join the Arrowverse as Lois until the Elseworlds crossover in 2018, this will mark the first time audiences will see the Lane sisters together.

Superman & Lois is the latest entry in the Greg Berlanti-run Arrowverse, which features such shows as The Flash, Supergirl (for now, anyway), Batwoman, and Legends of Tomorrow. The series centers on Clark Kent (Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Tulloch) having left Metropolis to raise their two teenage sons Jonathan (Jordan Elsass) and Jordan (Alex Garfin) in Clark’s hometown of Smallville, Kansas. The show’s 90-minute premiere netted the largest day-one streaming audience for any new CW title in history, leading to the show immediately getting renewed for a second season.

Now, with all these characters and actors leaving Supergirl and joining this new series (remember: Hoechlin's Clark also debuted on that show), could we expect that show’s star Melissa Benoist to make a guest appearance or two sometime in Superman & Lois’ future? Wait, Benoist has said that it’s absolutely possible? Awesome!

With a whole cast of characters now left hanging in the wake of Supergirl's end, it'll be interesting to see if any other fan favorites might make the jump in the next year or two. Who knows? Maybe Martian Manhunter joins Legends of Tomorrow? Or Alex Danvers joins up with Team Flash? There are no shortage of options, especially on Legends of Tomorrow — that show positively thrives on cast shake-ups.

Supergirl is currently in its sixth and final season, ending Nov. 9. Season 2 of Superman & Lois will premiere sometime in early 2022 on The CW.
