By Kayleigh Donaldson
X Men Storm

Can you believe the first month of 2019 is almost over already? Jeez, 2018 felt like it lasted a ceaseless age but now time is flying past us faster than we could have forseen. We can't decide if that's better or worse than the alternative. But whatever your views, January still brought us plenty to talk about, even as it remains one of the drier months in terms of new movie releases. GOAT month is coming to an end but FANGRRLS had plenty of spirited debates on the greatest pop culture figures of all time across genres and mediums. What conversations had people the most engrossed this week? Well, here are the top ten most read FANGRRLS posts from the past seven days.

X Men First class

 - The 13 greatest X-Men of all time

 - Legends of Tomorrow low-key introduced a non-binary character in Season 4

Legends of Tomorrow seldom gets the credit for its diverse storytelling, particularly along lines of gender and sexuality, but its introduction of a non-binary character has proven especially exciting.

 - The greatest Star Trek captains of all time

Of course we couldn't get through GOAT month without arguing about the Trek captains. It's the law. This debate will never end.

 - Look of the Week: Stark style in the new Game of Thrones teaser

FANGRRLS love a good tragic love story and so does the sci-fi genre at large, from Firefly's Mal and Inara to Buffy and Angel to Han and Leia. Ugh, where are the tissues?!

 - A binge-watching guide for the Arrowverse's Sara Lance

In all the Arrowverse there is only one badass, bisexual ship captain who makes us swoon. So, if you're new to this world, let us introduce you to the wonders of Sara Lance, A.K.A. White Canary.

 - The Magicians Discussion: Season 4, Episode 1 resets everything we thought we knew

SYFY's The Magicians returned for season four and we broke down all the drama in the premiere and what it means for the future of Fillory.

 - The twisted ambition of Excalibur's Morgana

John Boorman's twist on the King Arthur tale is one of the most beautiful and bonkers films of the 1980s, but its take on Morgana, as played by a breast-plate wearing Helen Mirren, is especially fascinating.

 - Open Post: Are some of our faves cancelled?

After the revelations of The Atlantic's profile on the decades of sexual assault allegations against director Bryan Singer, everyone has been forced to ask the difficult questions on separating art from artist, our culpability as fans in the shielding of our abusive faves, and how devastating news like the Singer story impacts us all.

 - Late to the Party: Supernatural

The CW's long running series Supernatural has its fair share of dedicated fans, but for newbies wanting to jump into the story of the Winchesters, 300+ episodes of TV can be a daunting prospect. Our very own SE Fleenor decided to dive in head first and see what all the fuss was about.
