His Dark Materials trailer teases the coming of Season 2's 'Great War'
His Dark Materials surprised fans with a season two trailer back at this year's virtual Comic-Con@Home, introducing the next step in Lyra's world-spanning adventure — and the Subtle Knife now at the heart of this stage. Now, with another trailer full of fun new footage, the players of author Philip Pullman's franchise prepare for a "Great War."
As stars Dafne Keen and Ruth Wilson consolidate their sides — including the likes of James McAvoy's Lord Asriel, Lin-Manuel Miranda's Lee Scoresby, and Amir Wilson's Will Parry — shadowy councils, witches, and airships keep things exciting in this new look at the fallout from the show's Dust-driven quest.
Check it out:
"We need to unite for the Great War," is a common refrain among the characters...but fans probably didn't expect to see a bunch of magical women flying off through the air after saying so. Lee Scoresby's got a big ol' gun, there's some swirling dark evil, and a massive forest battle. Basically, if fans thought the first season was conflict-heavy, they ain't seen nothin' yet. Battles on land and in the air are on their way for this war.
The season's also putting together even more of an impressive cast: Fleabag's Andrew Scott and Phoebe Waller-Bridge will reunite in HBO's His Dark Materials' second season, joined by newcomers Terence Stamp, Simone Kirby, and Jade Anouka.
And fans now have a release month to look forward to, as His Dark Materials returns to HBO this November.
