An inescapable new version of The Grudge unleashes a hair-raising trailer
The latest iteration of The Grudge is unavoidable. It came to scare everyone out of their minds, and and now their fiercest weapon of fright has a new trailer. Based in the same universe as the 2004 film of the same name (which itself was based on the Japanese Ju-on horror films), this new take is produced by none other than Evil Dead schlock legend Sam Raimi. It is directed by Nicholas Pesce, who has said that "it's another Grudge, not necessarily a reboot."
Andrea Riseborough stars as a single mother/private detective who discovers that a suburban house is cursed. A ghost of vengeance inhabits it, and it will doom any that enter with a violent death. She's soon on the run to save both her son, and herself.
Take a look at the completely frightening new trailer right here:
John Cho, you never should've gone in there. Real estate was never a business for you.
In addition to Riseborough and Cho (Star Trek), the film will also feature Betty Gilpin (American Gods), Demian Bichir, and Jacki Weaver in the neverending monster murder mystery. Oh and did we mention the new poster? Wash, rinse, and repeat viewing it below:
The Grudge is set to release on Jan. 3, 2020...just in time to frighten everyone to death in the new year.
