Free Comic Book Day 2022 revealed: Spider-Man, Resident Alien, Stranger Things, Doctor Who & more

Free Comic Book Day, the annual event celebrating local comics shops through the distributions of free comics and the events that come with them, has looked a little different over the past couple of years. Back in 2020, the event was spread out over several weekends rather than packed into a single Saturday, while earlier this year the event moved back to a single day, but was held in the summer rather than the traditional spring slot. Now we know that in 2022, the traditional timeline will be restored. 

The Free Comic Book Day Retailer Selection Committee announced Thursday that they have chosen 46 free comics releases from numerous large and small publishers for the 2022 event, which will return to its traditional first Saturday in May calendar date, this year falling on May 7. The selection includes 11 Gold-level sponsor titles and 35 Silver-level titles, ranging from Marvel to Dark Horse to Titan, and much more.

“Every year, we strive to bring fans a memorable Free Comic Book Day experience. We’re looking forward to returning to the traditional first Saturday in May event date and hope fans will visit local shops to celebrate what we hope will be one of the best FCBD events yet!” Ashton Greenwood, Free Comic Book Day spokesperson, said in a statement. “The variety of this year’s comic book selection is really exciting! There’s something for every kind of fan, from the long-time reader to the comic book curious. We know comic book retailers are looking forward to treating everyone to a day of fun and discovery, so we hope fans will safely visit their comic shops to celebrate!”
