March is Women's History Month. And while here on SYFY FANGRRLS we celebrate women's achievements throughout the year, we're going above and beyond for the upcoming month with a limited podcast series called Forgotten Women of Genre.

“Wakanda forever!” was the rallying cry heard around the world in February of 2018. Marvel had just released Black Panther into theaters, and it was instantly a huge success, becoming the second highest-grossing movie of the year. Audiences fell into the beauty of the world, as they cheered for T’Challa to sit on his throne and serve his people. This immersion is due to the incredible world building of Wakanda, and that is the work of Hannah Beachler. In her third collaboration with director Ryan Coogler, Beachler created a Wakanda we all wanted to visit, and won an Academy Award for it, becoming the first African-American to be nominated and win in the category of Best Production Design. Today’s episode of Forgotten Women of Genre is celebrating the work of Black Panther production designer, Hannah Beachler.

Forgotten Women of Genre tells the stories of the women who helped some of the most famous fantasy worlds become a reality.
