Watch Vin Diesel drive a muscle car down an exploding dam in 'Fast X' Super Bowl spot

Sunday’s ‘Fast X’ clip revealed previously unseen action from the family’s upcoming epic 10th outing.

FAST X (2023)

With a giant Indiana Jones ball of street-smashing doom and insane twin-helicopter hijinks that lift a car into the air, the first Fast X trailer that dropped on Friday teases the kind of bonkers action that might even give 2021’s F9 (which included a car trip to friggin’ space) a run for its money.

But a second, shorter clip from the upcoming newest installment in the Fast Saga also arrived during Sunday’s Super Bowl — and while it featured lots of the same footage teased in the longer, earlier trailer, it also threw in a few moments of previously-unseen mayhem. One of those involves a precipitously dizzying road standoff at the top of a massive dam (reported by The Goa Spotlight to be the Cabril Dam in Portugal), showing a pair of semi tankers bearing down fast from each direction toward Dominic Toretto’s (Vin Diesel) heavily over-horsepowered 1970 Dodge Charger R/T.

It’s a brief glimpse, but it’s definitely high-impact: Watch ’til the end to see what looks like a cleverly-baited blast trap set by Dom.

Check it out:

Just as the two trucks look set to become the crumpled bread in a mangled muscle car sandwich, Dom tones a last-minute radio shoutout with a seeming mic-drop of a message for Dante, the new Fast X villain with a deep-diving origin story played by Jason Momoa. “You made one mistake,” Dom cautions as the trucks close in: “You never took my car.”

We’re not sure where Dante’s watching from as the clock ticks down toward the unavoidable moment of glass-and-steel carnage, but wherever he is, it’s clear this isn’t the setup he had in mind. With a split second to spare, it’s spinout city as Dom’s Dodge launches up on two wheels and plunges straight over the railing, careening down the vertical concrete face of the dam as the two tanker trucks above go boom.

Does Dom drive away from the mind-bending stunt? We don’t yet know, because the clip leaves us hanging — but it's definitely not good news for Dante. The camera closes in on a tight shot of his frustrated face, as Momoa grinds an ominous “this-isn’t-over” declaration through his teeth: “See ya soon, Dom.”

The first in a planned two-movie sendoff for the sprawling Fast Saga as we know it, Fast X features Diesel and Momoa alongside returning FF veterans Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Jason Statham, John Cena, Charlize Theron, and tons more (including other franchise newcomers Brie Larson and Alan Ritchson). We’ll finally get to the bottom of Dom’s cliffhanger dam dive on May 19, when Fast X comes tearing into theaters.
