Our New Year's resolution is to see all the tentpole movies on Fandango's list of most-anticipated blockbusters for 2022. All 10 spots are occupied by massive genre projects, all of which constitute continuations of established franchises (fun fact: two of them are headlined by Tom Cruise).
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever sits in the coveted top spot followed by Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One), The Batman, Thor: Love and Thunder, Jurassic World: Dominion, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Avatar 2, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Top Gun: Maverick, and Mission: Impossible 7.
“Audiences are looking for unforgettable experiences at the theater and 2022 promises to deliver a bounty of exciting new movies that you must see on the big screen,” Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis said in a statement. “From some of the biggest returning characters like Spider-Man, Batman, Catwoman, and Doctor Strange, to memorable franchises like Black Panther, Top Gun, Mission: Impossible, and Jurassic World, the new year is packed with thrills, chills, and adventure around every corner."
The stunning box office success of Spider-Man: No Way Home — which hit $1 billion globally in its second weekend (despite the fact that we're still in the middle of a pandemic) — should bode extremely well for the next 365 days of moviegoing. In any case, it'll be another big year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And that's just the tip of the cinematic iceberg, folks.
