Exclusive: Danny Trejo leads a band of soul Reapers in trailer for Paragon: The Shadow Wars
Heaven is dead and Danny Trejo is donning his sci-fi trenchcoat to kick some ass and take some souls. The action staple stars in Pikchure Zero Entertainment’s new sci-fi action series Paragon: The Shadow Wars as the leader of a motley crew — exactly where you think he'd be after a celestial apocalypse.
Trejo plays Kincaid in the series, which sees a war raging among those factions looking to create a new afterlife. Kincaid leads a group of disbanded Reapers as the world fights not just for this life, but the next. Plus, he carries a pretty sweet-looking staff. And he's not even the main character. Among all the crazy stuff fans can find in the first trailer for the seven-episode series - magic, fairy-looking creatures, demons - there's also Jael, who is the new Paragon...probably the key to fixing all of this madness.
Take a look:
The show stars Trejo, Amin Joseph, Franziska Schissler, Dilan Gwyn, Khu, and Justin Price - with Price, Khu, and Schissler producing.
“We have always loved the sci-fi fantasy genre, and we wanted to create a series that explored one of the most intriguing questions of humanity," said Price in a statement. "Where do we go when we die? And what would happen if Heaven no longer existed?”
There's a lot going on in this sci-fi world, which looks to blend religious elements, traditional fantasy, and sci-fi superheroics (Buffy, meet Constantine and Hellboy). "I believe we have an electric hybrid that explores the human spectrum of dealing with loss and love in a stylistic way," Price said. As long as Trejo is leading the charge to the afterlife, that's a pretty big selling point.
Paragon is currently being shopped to networks.
