D'Vorah and Kabal revealed for Mortal Kombat 11, Anthem gameplay and this week's Gamegrrl news
It’s still freezing outside and spring is so very far away. It’s hard to think about going outside and sitting in the sun when you need two pairs of socks and three cats on your lap to stay warm in your den. It’s time to get your blood up by getting excited about some game news! This week we have info and trailers for Days Gone, some Mortal Kombat 11 characters returning, some virtual reality birds and pigs, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and more. Check out the Gamegrrl news for the week ending February 9.
Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Days Gone has a new video released by PlayStation this week. It’s called Fighting to Survive and it’s pretty scary. “Traversing harsh landscapes on their drifter bike, players must fight for resources as they attempt to survive broken roads, unpredictable weather, attacks from other human factions, infected wildlife and roaming Freakers – a brutal, dynamic world that is dangerous both day and night.”The game is set in the Pacific Northwest’s high desert, and it looks gorgeous. The game will allow you to learn the habits and behaviors of the Freakers as Decon, a man fighting to take them down. Check out the trailer above. The game will hit PlayStation 4 on April 26.
As previously reported, FANGRRLS attended the big Mortal Kombat 11 reveal back in January, and we learned a ton of stuff. We saw Baraka and Skarlet who are returning, as well as Sonya Blade, mo-capped by Ronda Rousey. Scorpion is back, as well as Kano, Raiden, and Sub-Zero, and we have a new character named Geras, who works for Kronika. We saw fatalities and fatal blows, and it all looks awesome. Well, this week, the official YouTube channel posted a video revealing Kabal, and after Kombat Kast, we learned that D’Vorah the bug lady is back as well, looking a little more mechanic. Kabal and D’Vorah aren’t exactly on the hero side of things. He was a former Black Dragon enforcer turned Revenant, and she, well, she’s kind of gross and awfully fabulous. (Check her pic out at the top of the article or here.) Now, whether or not Shaggy ever turns up is up for debate, though NetherRealm says no. This week we also got a launch trailer for Crackdown 3 from the official Xbox, and it’s coming your way for Xbox One and Windows 10 on February 15. Perfect late Valentine’s Day present to yourself, no? Here is the info for you: “Time to step up your boom and stop crime as a super-powered Agent in Crackdown 3‘s open-world sandbox of mayhem and destruction. Explore the heights of New Providence, tear up the streets in iconic vehicles, and use your powerful abilities to stop a ruthless criminal empire. Play the campaign solo or with a friend in co-op mode or compete in the all-new “Wrecking Zone,” a multiplayer mode where destruction is your ultimate weapon. Online multiplayer requires an Xbox Live Gold subscription.”We’re getting more of a look at one of our most anticipated games of the year, Anthem. The official YouTube channel released a new video called This Is Anthem Gameplay Series, Part 2: Endgame. In the video, you’ll learn more about the gameplay and what the game is all about. Here is the official info: “Continuing the series, this gameplay video showcases your first story in Anthem, along with javelin personalization and a look at the expanding world of Anthem and its endgame content. Game Director Jonathan Warner walks you through some of the contracts, Strongholds, and endgame content that will constantly offer new challenges for you to test your skills against.”Anthem comes to us from EA and BioWare, and will be out on February 22 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. If you’re an Origin Access Premier member, you can get unlimited access on PC on February 15.
Did you think Angry Birds was a thing of the past? Nope! If you’re like us and love VR, you’re going to be happy about this. Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs has a new trailer. The game is coming your way for Oculus Rift and HTC Vibe. Here is the info: “Join Red, Chuck, Bomb and the Blues to save the stolen eggs in Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs, an immersive VR adventure! Discover the remote island where the greedy green pigs take their vacation in 50+ fun-filled levels - with more to come! Make your way up to party city through exotic beaches, steep cliffs and snowy slopes, destroying their structures in the most spectacular way to earn those all-important stars.” There are more VR platforms coming for the game, so stay tuned! Finally this week we got a new story trailer from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice which is absolutely stunning. Here is the info for the game, which will be available on March 22. “Winner of “Best of gamescom” and “Best Action Game” at gamescom 2018, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is the next adventure from developer FromSoftware, creators of Bloodborne and the Dark Souls series.“Explore late 1500s Sengoku Japan, a brutal period of constant life and death conflict, as you come face-to-face with larger than life foes in a dark and twisted world. Unleash an arsenal of deadly prosthetic tools and powerful ninja abilities while you blend stealth, vertical traversal, and visceral head-to-head combat in a bloody confrontation.”
