Dream Casting: Young Justice
Dream Casting is an imaginative look at the casting process of potential Hollywood projects based on comics and other media. This isn't just about what is being made; this is about what should be made, and who we think should be the stars.
With the Young Justice animated series making its return on the DC Universe streaming app and DC launching a new Young Justice comic book this week, it seems like the perfect time to imagine a live-action DCEU movie based on the post-Titans team of DC's teen heroes.
You could go a lot of ways with the lineup, as long as it includes Tim Drake as Robin and Cassie Sandsmark as Wonder Girl alongside Impulse and Superboy. I've stuck with the characters from the new comic by Brian Michael Bendis and Patrick Gleason, mostly because I think the new members have a lot of potential.
Owen Teague as Robin
Owen Teague (Stephen King's It) is a great young actor with the right look for Tim Drake, handsome but distinctive, and not as square-jawed as a Dick Grayson type.
Elle Fanning as Wonder Girl
Elle Fanning (Maleficent, The Neon Demon) brings some star power to the young cast, and she'll excel at portraying both the internal and external strength of Cassie Sandsmark.
Noah Centineo as Superboy
Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I've Loved Before) has the good looks and easy charisma to play this retro-'90s version of Superboy.
Joey Luthman as Impulse
Joey Luthman (The Long Road Home) can be a goofball like Impulse should be, but he's still a real actor who can make Bart Allen feel like a real character.
Katelyn Nacon as Jinny Hex
Katelyn Nacon (The Walking Dead) is from the South and has just the right look (with the possible addition of red hair) to play Jonah Hex's descendent.
Skai Jackson as Teen Lantern
We don't really know anything about Teen Lantern yet, but I like the idea of having a Green Lantern on the team, and Skai Jackson (Bunk'd) is a promising young actress who at least looks the part.
Sophia Lillis as Amethyst
Sophia Lillis (Stephen King's It, Sharp Objects) is one of the best teen actors working right now, and with a purple wig and ethereal costume, she'll make a fantastic interdimensional princess.
