Chosen One of the Day: Nurse Diesel
News broke yesterday that Sarah Paulson will be starring in a One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest prequel Ratched, centering on Nurse Ratched (originated by Louise Fletcher). Frankly, I don't know that we as a society need this, though I will watch literally anything featuring Sarah Catharine Paulson because of course I will.
But [extreme Carrie Bradshaw voice here] I couldn't help but wonder: is Ratched the nurse who needs doctoring? In the pantheon of evil nurses, my personal favorite for now and ever shall be Nurse Charlotte Diesel from Mel Brooks's Hitchcock send-up High Anxiety, as portrayed by iconic human Cloris Leachman.
What makes Diesel so special? Well. Let me tell you.

And she dies literally turning into the Wicked Witch of the West while falling to her death, broom and all. Ryan Murphy WISHES. What he took multiple seasons of American Horror Story to do, Diesel gives us in one character in one movie! A hero!
