Chosen One of the Day: LV-426, home of the xenomorphs
The Alien franchise centers around the efforts of the mega-corporation, Weyland-Yutani, and everyone else dealing with the consequences of Weyland-Yutani's obsession with weaponizing a lethal alien species called xenomorphs. Weyland-Yutani's reach extends all over the universe, they own just about any and everything floating in space, even the dust-covered moons.
One of those moons is LV-426, near and dear to those in the Alien fandom as it was the location of the first two films of the franchise. It is also the absolute worst place to work, even if it's for overtime pay and a bonus. It’s been a hot spot in the Alien universe, and unfortunately for this tiny moon, anything of interest to them often ends up becoming an extension of hell itself and massive tax write off.
Essentially, LV-426 is the neighborhood that refuses to succumb to gentrification because the xenomorphs are having none of it.
LV-426 has nothing to offer outside of turbulent weather, dust, rocks, lava, and a derelict full of xenomorph eggs. While LV-426 is not the origin of xenomorphs, it was more of a nursery long forgotten until the unfortunate souls of the Nostromo were assigned to check out a signal. LV-426 was later ironically named Acheron by human colonist sent by Weyland-Yutani to terraform the moon. Acheron is after all the stream of woe in Greek mythology. Unfortunately for the residents of Hadley’s Hope, LV-426 lives up to its nickname and the xenomorphs made sure of it. They didn’t even get a chance to set up a proper dog park and coffee shop before things went sideways.
