Chosen One of the Day: Cate Blanchett's Infinity Gems dress
As if Cate Blanchett didn’t already snatch our collective wigs in her performance as Hela in Thor: Ragnarok, she showed up to this year's BAFTAs rocking the hell out of a bold figure-hugging, cleavage-baring black dress, shutting things down like only the great Cate Blanchett can do. What sets this number off are the chunky gems that are attached to the dress.
The Infinity Gauntlet is cool and all, in a medieval sort of way, but Blanchett’s dress would have done the Infinity Gems a better service.
This Infinity Dress says absolute power, but makes it fashion. It doesn’t inspire ideals like vanishing half the universe or snatching the batteries out of that poor woman’s sentient vibrator. Instead, it says, "Hey, let's use the power of these precious gems to make the universe a better place, or at the very least, let’s have a lit-ass weekend." Could you imagine extended weekends or off-days in general because the wearer of this dress said: “Nah, let’s keep the partying going”? Boom. Next thing you know, time has been rewound to the moment you clocked out of work. The Infinity Dress could make travel a lot easier on a Friday night too. No need to catch a Lyft when you could just teleport yourself and your friends, thanks to the space gem, straight from the bathroom right to the club, all before ladies free at 11 is over. This dress has the range for a good time.
If only Thanos could have had a daring Infinity Romper made for him instead of the Gauntlet, then maybe everyone in the MCU could just be enjoying an extended weekend instead.
