Chosen One of the Day: Bill Hader not rereading It
I am, admittedly, not a horror fan. I don’t like being scared, I don’t need other stories to get in my head and freak me out. But you know what? I almost saw It. The cast seemed great, and Stephen King’s a good writer, right? OK, I’m lying, the real reason I almost saw It was because of this interview Bill Hader gave while promoting It: Chapter 2.
It’s all fun and games at first, with Hader and his co-star James McAvoy bouncing off each other. Then the interviewer asks them to do impressions of one another. Now I am a sucker for a Bill Hader impression. I love them. He’s so good at them. That alone warrants a Chosen One of the Day, if we’re being honest. However, he takes it a step further, using it as a moment to revisit McAvoy making him feel bad for not reading the book.
“Then you said, ‘well you know in the book with the blah blah blah,’ and I was like ‘I didn’t read it.’”
He goes on,
“And I was like f***, and I remember calling the others and I was like, ‘James read the book!’ and they were like, ‘Oh yeah, we read the book.” And I was like, ‘Just like now?! Like recently?!’ And they were like, ‘Yeah, I got the job, I read the book. And I was like, ‘I’m the worst actor.’”
Maybe it’s the procrastinator in me, or maybe it’s the smart ass who was taught to question everything at far too young an age, or maybe that everything’s a blur and I’m tired a lot, but wow did I relate to that anecdote. Here’s to you, Bill Hader — who needs to do homework?
