Casting: Zendaya in talks to join Dune cast; Chloë Grace Moretz to lead WWII action horror film
Zendaya may be Muad'Dib’s MJ, and Hit Girl must save the crew of a B-17 Flying Fortress in the latest edition of our geeky casting roundup.
First up, the cast of the new Dune film is filling up quickly. Collider is reporting that Spider-Man: Homecoming star Zendaya is in talks to play Chani, the literal woman of Paul’s dreams.
This news comes just one day after it was announced that Oscar Isaac was in talks to play the father of Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet). Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista and Charlotte Rampling are also set to star in Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic sci-fi novel.
In the meantime, Zendaya can be seen reprising her role of Michelle, aka MJ, in Spider-Man: Far From Home beginning July 5.

Meanwhile, Chloë Grace Moretz, is set to star in the World War II-set action horror film Shadow in the Cloud, written by Chronicle scribe Max Landis and directed by Roseanne Liang.
The Kick-Ass and Let Me In star will play Captain Maude Gardner, who boards a B-17 Flying Fortress with a black radio bag containing top secret contents. While putting up with the all-male crew’s lecherous jeering, she begins to notice strange happenings occur on the plane as the pilot deals with an oncoming Japanese ambush and… something…lurking within the shadows of the plane. So, Maude must do what she can to save the crew and protect her secret cargo.
Endeavor Content, which is handling global sales and will present the project to buyers at the European Film Market, announced the casting news.
