First look: Books of Magic #8 conjuring new faerie-centric DC Comics storyline

By Jacob Oller
Books of Magic page 1

The long-running, Harry Potter-esque, Neil Gaiman-created comic Books of Magic has taken Tim Hunter to all ends of the DC Universe. With its latest edition, the youngster that could grow up to be the comic world’s most powerful magician is again tangling with Titania, queen of the faeries — and we’ve got a sneak peek at the action.

Written by Kat Howard, with art from Tom Fowler, the comic’s eighth issue is kicking off a whole new narrative. Tim’s run away from home and is having a ball hanging out in Faerie. What’s not to like? It’s a great place for a magical kid in desperate need of relaxation. But Rose and Titania are at odds, while the human world deals with Tim’s absence.

SYFY WIRE has an exclusive look inside the book and at the new storyline, as well as  the cover.

Take a look:

There’s definitely a growing conflict over Tim’s destiny. It’s magical, apocalyptic, and dire on one side and almost banal on its human side. But get cops and faeries together and you’ve got one great recipe for fantasy weirdness. That looks to be where things are headed as Tim’s disappearance begins wearing on the comic’s side characters.

Fans can find out how things shake out when Book of Magic #8 goes on sale May 22.
