Live-action ‘Ahsoka’ series casts its Mandalorian demolitions expert, Sabine Wren
Natasha Liu Bordizzo will play Sabine Wren, who we first met in animated form on Star Wars: Rebels.
We’ve known about the Ahsoka live-action Disney+ series for almost a year now. We’ve also known that Rosario Dawson will once again play Ahsoka after her introduction in the second season of The Mandalorian, and that Hayden Christensen will once again play Anakin Skywalker (aka Darth Vader) on the show.
Today we got some additional casting news about the series. Deadline first reported that Natasha Liu Bordizzo will be joining Dawson and Christensen on Ahsoka as Sabine Wren, a Star Wars character first introduced in the animated series Star Wars: Rebels, where she is voiced by Tiya Sircar.
Sabine is a Mandalorian and a demolitions expert who has special ties to the Darksaber. She started out her life as a cadet at the Imperial Academy on Mandalore, but left and became a rebel when she realized her weapons were used against her people. After the Empire fell, she and Ahsoka went on a search for their lost friend, Ezra Bridger. With Bordizzo's casting, one can’t help but speculate that the live-action Ahsoka show will include the two of them looking to track their friend down.
Bordizzo recently starred in Amazon's The Voyeurs; previous credits include parts in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny, The Greatest Showman, and a recurring role on the television series, The Society. There’s no official release date yet for Ahsoka, but given production is expected to start in March 2022, we likely won’t see the show on Disney+ until 2023.
