Kyle Coffeen and his fiancée Jenny were taking the plunge and moving in together. It was an exciting time. Jenny's family liked Kyle, and he loved them.

Jenny took a break from unpacking to go out for a smoke. She thought she heard knocking come from the basement doors. When she checked it out, she felt someone standing behind her. She called for Kyle to look, but he didn’t find anything.

The next morning, Jenny found the bread in the middle of the kitchen floor. When she put it back in the breadbox, and turned to fix coffee, it was right back on the floor. Kyle knew nothing of it. Jenny knew something wasn’t right.

Josh was in the shower, and thought he heard a little boy's voice crying. He grabbed a towel and went to investigate. He found nothing. However, as he was on the stairs, he heard the voice again. Unsettled, he called his mother to tell her what he'd heard. Jenny reassured Josh that nobody else was in the house, but Josh knew he hadn't imagined the noise.

Makela was also experiencing something paranormal. One day, she heard a soft knock on her bedroom door. She knew she was alone in the house. When she checked it out, there was nobody there. Makela closed the door again, only to have a louder pounding happen. Frightened, she threw open the door to see nobody there. When she turned back around, there was a dirty handprint on her window. It was too small to belong to anyone in the family.

Jenny was taking a break on the couch when she felt fingertips brush her cheek. Nobody else was home. She got up and looked around, but wasn’t able to find anyone. When she saw the reflection of a little boy in the mirror, however? She had confirmation. Her house was haunted.

Jenny noticed a woman sitting in a red truck outside the house. The woman in the car, Kari Skinner, had been a foster child living in the house in her childhood. Her younger brother, Kris, had died in the house. The two women bonded over coffee, while Kari told the story of finding her brother’s corpse in the hallway. Kari had grown up thinking she was responsible somehow, and needed some answers. By the time they were done talking, Jenny needed answers just as much.

Kari went to the archives to do more research on her brother’s death. News articles and an autopsy report essentially ruled the cause of death as "strenuous play", but the more Kari read of the details, the less things connected. Something was fishy.

Josh was in the kitchen fixing a meal when he saw the reflection of a tall, slender, old man in one of the kitchen appliances. When Josh turned and the man was gone, he immediately ran outside.

Jenny called in a paranormal team, with Kyle’s reluctant agreement. The team picked up a male voice saying "murder" at one point. At another point, they also picked up a boy’s voice saying, "My name is Kris." Jenny called Kari in to hear it. Kari knew her brother had been murdered.

Josh screamed as he was awakened by hands around his ankles, dragging him in the bed.
29467
At the same time Josh was attacked in his bed, something picked up the washing machine in the basement and turned it around. Kyle was finally convinced that Jenny had been right all along. Jenny had to know what was happening, before it hurt her children more than it already had.

Kari came to Jenny's house with another autopsy report. She'd asked for the case to be re-opened, as Kari was convinced her brother had been murdered. The second autopsy report said there were signs of child abuse. Kari remembered a moment right after she’d found her brother’s body where she heard her foster father lying to the police on the telephone. Her foster father had murdered her brother through the abuse.

The foster father had died in 2010. His spirit had been torturing Kris' in the house for years. Armed with the knowledge that Kris had been murdered, Jenny held a "passing over" ceremony in the house for both of them. The spirits never returned.
