WARNING: If you don't want to know what happened in this episode, don't read this photo recap!
All is not well on board the Nightflyer. Dr. Agatha Matheson is running scared on the ship, and records a warning message to any and all to not attempt to rescue them or board the ship.
413273
Agatha fights with a fellow shipmate who is trying to kill her, and manages to get the message off the ship.
413274
And then this happens. Holy space hell this is horrifically gruesome. What, exactly, happened on the Nightflyer to cause this to happen?
413275
Back on Earth, Karl D'Branin is talking with his daughter, Skye, about how he has identified an alien ship in space and he wants to connect with it to see if they can help save humanity from a dying Earth.
413276
And then OMG, this entire conversation is a memory and he is on the Nightflyer. Also? 2093 tech is awesome and terrifying.
413277
Dr. Matheson arrives on the Nightflyer and meets the rest of the team that D'Branin has put together: Melantha Jhirl, born and bred for space travel, and Lommie, who communicates with the ship through a neural port in her arm.
413278
The other addition to this mission for communication with the alien Volcryns? A telepath that almost everyone is afraid of named Thale. He is kept in a secure isolation cell and Dr. Matheson is there to keep him calm.
413280
Captain Eris appears in hologram form on the bridge of the ship as they begin liftoff to break orbit and start their mission.
413281
Multiple malfunctions on takeoff cause crew member Murphy to get out of his seat. When the ship's thrust starts, he's pulled down and smashed on the console over and over again. Rough start.
413282
Matheson talks to Thale to make sure that the powerful telepath is not to blame for the problems with the ship. He denies any involvement, and she sedates him in order to calm him down and have a look around. According to Matheson, his creepy drawings are images he receives from the minds of others, and not his own. Not really a relief....
413283
Melantha Jhirl's oxygen supply malfunctions in her water tank and she nearly drowns -- saved at the last minute by Lommie.
413284
D'Branin visits the memory pod and has visions of his deceased daughter that are wrong -- as he escapes the pod she materializes and her arm preternaturally stretches toward him.
413285
Convinced that Thale is to blame for his visions, D'Branin confronts Matheson and they rush to Thale's cell together. He is missing.
413286
Murphy finds Thale in the inner workings of the ship, and is lit on fire. D'Branin puts it out the flames. Thale runs off. The ship is in chaos. What is happening?
