If you don't want to know what happened in this episode, don't read this photo recap!
Welcome back to "Killjoys"! Johnny and Dutch are in the middle of tracking down a sea-salt smuggler for one of their warrants. They'll be with you shortly.
161661
And while Dutch and Johnny are working, D'avin is still having PTSD nightmares about the war.
161666
Surprise, salt smuggler! You thought you gave the trio's ship, Lucy, the slip, but Dutch got on your ship first. Enjoy your reclamation.
161671
With that taken care of, it's time to address the elephant in the room: Dav's basically loitering on Lucy, with no job (he doesn't want to go work in the mines) and no papers (so he can't just leave). Dutch wants him gone, though.
161676
In the meantime... new warrant! Seems the mayor's daughter Veena has been taken hostage by the warlord Ryo, who wants her prisoner brother (Simon) returned to her. The Company can't get their hands dirty intervening, so it's up to the Killjoys to make the exchange.
161681
So it's off to Sugar Point, which nobody seems happy about. Simon pipes up to say that it's his home, but even he's in a bad way since he's got a weak stomach and the restraints make it worse. Dutch is like "tough ta-tas," but Johnny's the one who has to clean up when Simon ralphs. They puke blue in the Quad System!
161686
Dutch, meanwhile, has another flashback to her days as a child assassin, training with Khlyen. He told her the red boxes contain "one name, one weapon." The rules were that you had a week to "take care" of the task at hand. So, like, kill a guy.
161691
Sugar Point it is! The city is bombed out and walled in, the site of a former rebellion that the Company put down. Harshly.
161696
Welcome to Sugar Point! Lucy gets shot down by scavengers on the ground, and now they're stuck in the wrong part of town. The part of town where they use impaled skulls as decoration. Oh, and Simon just escaped.
161701
Dutch and Dav head out after Simon, while Johnny stays back to fix Lucy.
161706
Dutch and Dav chase Simon into a building, but they're ambushed inside a warehouse by friends of Ryo. Dirty, drugged-out friends of Ryo.
161711
They find Simon, who says Ryo is going to kill him. More specifically, she's going to cut him open when they give him to her.
161716
Scavengers get the jump on Dutch, Dav, and Simon, capturing them by shooting electric face-net things at them.
161721
Flashback to more of Dutch's training with Khlyen. Seems what happens when you don't kill the guy you're supposed to is you get tied to a chair and forced to fight to the death. You can't refuse the order. So young Dutch POPS her SHOULDER OUT to escape the restraints.
161726
Dav and Dutch in find themselves in a Scavenger body-parts warehouse, and Dutch, remembering her youth, again pops her shoulder out to escape.
161731
Turns out Simon was hiding something inside his body, and the Scavengers were trying to cut it out of him. It's too late for Simon, but Dutch retrieves the orb he was smuggling inside him - also called a Smuggler's Nut. This is what Ryo wants.
161736
Back on the ship, Lucy is quickly running out of power, and Johnny has to fend off a horde of Scavengers outside. Only 20 minutes of power left.
161741
Dutch gets Dav to open up about what he's looking for that he won't tell them. All he'll say is he's looking for a doctor. More importantly do Dutch and Dav have a plan to rescue the mayor's daughter? Dav: "I'm a soldier, so use me. Do you trust me?"
161746
Time up, John! The Scavengers have breached Lucy.
161751
Dutch and Dav have a stand-off with Ryo's people. But they have backup in terms of the Scavengers, who aren't really helping them so much as they are attacking Ryo's people for their own reasons. It's a shoot-out!
161756
Having fended off the Scavengers, Johnny repairs Lucy, only to be ambushed by a thug.
161761
Dutch and Dav make it to the roof with the mayor's daughter, where Dav is able to disable the missile that Ryo wants to launch into Old Town. And then it's Johnny to the rescue with a freshly-repaired Lucy!
161766
I guess this is what Dav meant by making "a few modifications" on the missile. Sorry, Ryo.
161771
Back home, Dav shows off his " shiny new visitors permit." Pree offers him a room as a sex worker (hey, it's work), but Dutch has another idea: maybe Dav could sign up to be a Killjoy with them?
161776
Finally, Dutch tracks down the kill order that was inside the mysterious red box. But rather than kill the guy, she wants answers: "Khlyen wants you dead. I want to know why. "
