Because this challenge revolves around a "mother" theme, it is a minute-by-minute struggle for him to keep working. He is only able to move forward by keeping in mind by dedicating his work to making his mom happy.

When Anthony joins McKenzie and Mr. Westmore on their lab visit, he sees Lyma's idea to give her character a pregnant belly and suggests she tie an animal home into it somehow. She takes the idea and runs with it, making the belly a see-through home for a bunny. The judges find this to be a beautiful representation of fertility, and coupled with the heavenly hair and original silhouette, they name her makeup worthy of top looks.

Laura has worked so hard this season, but feels she's falling short of the mark. Her way of incorporating her mother into her piece is to build trumpet flowers on the skirt to mark her mom's love of music, and sculpt a caterpillar motif on the torso. She finds she has enough time to deliver a complex paint job, but there's still no telling what the judges will like.

Roy built his goddess into a tree, since he felt that his mother was the tree around which the family grew. The judges love his paint scheme for its originality, nuance, and ability to bring forward the model's natural beauty. They place him in top looks, a welcome change from last week's low.

Eddie's makeup didn't follow feminine lines, and he completely left any makeup off the face of his model. Because of the strange shape of the cowl, she doesn't look much like a goddess or a mother.

Scott's mother grew up on a farm, so he did his best to incorporate a sense of harvest. His choice of burning red, coupled with a gnarled wood chestpiece, tilts his makeup toward the horror genre, and he also lands in bottom looks.

Since RJ created a Mother Earth character for the finale last time he was on the show and didn't want to repeat his work, he veered in a direction that was more kitschy than beautiful, more humorous than ethereal. The judges didn't like the foundation decision, and were further dismayed by some of the color and sculpting choices he made for the model's face. He lands on bottom looks, and it is with heavy hearts that the judges send him home this week.
