After Poison Class, Marcus and Professor Denke bond over their mutual hate of Ronald Reagan. Marcus is intent on assassinating the prez quipping, "Hating what's wrong is easy. I'm gonna do something about it." Denke is impressed and tells the young lad he's got something special and the others see it, which is also why they want to destroy him.

In Dark Arts Willie continues his method thug act and lies about killing Rory. Obviously, Master Lin knows he's not telling the truth. The Master is also generally disgusted that nobody completed their murder homework. So he gives them a new assignment: "Survive and earn your place here. Fail and you die." When the rest of the class is dismissed, Master Lin tells Willie to stay behind. Ruh-roh...

Out in the hallway, barred gates trap the students. Lin makes a PA announcement (remember those?!) "I'm alive without breath and cold as death. I'm never thirsty but always drinking. What am I?" Then poison gas is released into the air. Lin gives the students five minutes to get to the botanical lab to solve the riddle... or die. NBD.

Everyone's in a panic, naturally. So Marcus uses Brandy's hairpin to unlock one of the gates and the group heads downstairs where they're met with... robed monks with weapons! While his friends fight for their lives, Willie is back in Lin's office trying not to pee his pants.

The gang makes it to the lab looking a mess - blood dripping from their eyes, mouths, ears et al. Marcus solves the riddle: fish! As he reaches for the antidote, Chico kicks his hand away because assholes never tire. While everyone is basically dying, Maria manages to get up, snatch some leaves from the life-saving plant and feed them to her friends. She hesitates for a moment before feeding Chico and we don't blame her.

After their brush with death, the kids head to the lunchroom because they're not old enough to (legally) drink. Everyone's in a bad mood and can't even, so when Shabnam - our requisite nerd - announces he's running for class president, Viktor responds by dumping trash on his head. Marcus helps Shab up because Marcus is a not a jerk. Shabman mentions a parents-free Commodore 64 weekend, so everyone invites themselves to his house for a party.

Back in their room, Maria and Saya get ready for the party and gossip about Marcus. Maria is all "Yay, a cute new boy!" While Saya is all, "Whatever." What Saya really wants to talk about is the pills Maria's been taking. But before they can dive deeper, Chico shows up and says he's taking Maria on a date. No party at Shabnam's for Maria. Poor Maria.

At the party, we find out that Billy has a crush on Petra. We also find out that Saya has a soft spot. To prove it, she gives Billy a pep talk: "you're cute and funny and not a dickhead, so you should be confident." #inspo

Elsewhere, Marcus is being Marcus with his headphones on (The Smiths!) while everyone else parties. Willie teases him for being emo while Marcus teases Willie for being a poser.

Lex and his accent go on an insult spree teasing Brandy, an adult drug dealer at the party (there's always one) and Petra. Petra storms off just as Billy tries to make his move. Billy's feeling low and Marcus is ticked off at Lex for c-blocking Billy. Before Marcus can confront Billy, Brandy shoves him and Saya into a bathroom because it is a party after all...

Later on, Willie makes another confession to Marcus. While trying to defend his father, Willie shot some rival gang members but also accidentally shot and killed his dad. Willie's mom gave the story a different spin and said the rival gang killed Willie's dad so Willie retaliated and killed them. That's how Willie got into Kings Dominion and nobody can every find out the truth. Us: That's not ominous at all...

Billy finally works up the nerve to confess his love to Petra. She reacts by freaking out and grabbing the closet thing to her while Billy's back is turned - Viktor - and heads upstairs with him. Poor Billy.

Since it's a party, the liquor is flowing so naturally a few fights break out. Brandy makes a racist joke, Marcus throws a drink on her. Saya confronts Marcus about being the one who killed Rory, not Willie. Marcus denies it and has a tantrum. Lex finds Shabnam's mom's dildo and parades around the party with it. Saya slices the dildo in half. Chaos ensues and the cops show up.

When the fuzz arrives, everyone scatters but the lights and sirens put Marcus in a daze and he starts seeing Rory everywhere. Willie grabs him and they take off.

During date night, Maria and Chico are joined by Chico's "old friend", Emilio. Chico shoots Emilio between the eyes, which isn't very friendly. Maria is horrified and Chico tells her to remember who he is and that he knows about her crush on Marcus. Maria. You in danger girl!

The next day, Master Lin makes Marcus attend Rory's funeral and speak on Rory's behalf. Marcus speaks his truth, "Rory was the worst." God and Rory's daughter are not pleased.

Master Lin tells Marcus that Rory was wanted for six unsolved murders and that Marcus did a good thing and that he's proud of him. Lin says they must "protect the herd" by taking out people who deserve to be taken out. Marcus isn't sure he's ready for the responsibility but Lin says in time he will be.

Back at school, Lin gives Marcus a permanent room and a new roommate - Shabnam!
