But First We Save the Galaxy: Season 2, Episode 13

The Raza gang went to the end of the universe and back in Dark Matter Season 2. Here were the highlights.

We started out on Hyperion-8, a maximum security prison where our anti-heroes were the guests of honor after being betrayed by Six. There, they found new allies in the form of the gorgeous and deadly Nyx ...

... and Devon, a medic haunted by a drug addiction that led to the accidental death of one of his patients (not Three, pictured here - he's okay).

One got off scot free thanks to his high-priced lawyers, but death came a'callin' in the form of Jace Corso, the outlaw whose identity One stole to board the Raza back in Season 1.

The gang manages to escape from Hyperion-8 with a little help from Commander Truffault of the Mikkei Combine, who gives Three a map of the entire prison layout.

It wasn't just business as usual once the gang was back on board the Raza. A computer glitch resulted in reinstating old memories in Two, Three and Four, turning them back into their old jerky mercenary selves. Five saved the day ... and had to rough up Two a little in the process.

Everyone more or less forgives Six for his betrayal after he recovers from injuries sustained on Hyperion-8, especially after he acknowledges how corrupt the Galactic Authority actually is.

Three's old gang came a'callin', though he couldn't quite bring himself to embrace the good old days when they resorted to kidnapping and murder. Three's a different - and better - man now, thanks to having his memories wiped.

The Android got a boyfriend! Victor appears almost completely human, thanks to an illegal emotional upgrade. He gives one of these upgrades to The Android ...

... and she enjoys a brief stink running various off-ship missions, including infiltrating a Galactic Authority space station to track down Jace Corso, whom Two later guns down to avenge the murder of One. Corso went to his grave without identifying who hired him to kill One.

Nyx's dark past was revealed when she tricked the Raza gang into helping her rescue her brother Milo from a group of psychic psychotics known as The Seers. Both Nyx and Milo possess extreme cognitive abilities, which explains why Nyx is so good in a fight ... she can see her opponent's moves before they're made! Tragically, Milo later kills himself lest he be exploited by The Seers any longer.

The Seers are now after Nyx, and they stab Devon to death after he refuses to tell them the location of the Raza.

The gang then went after Alicia Reynaud, a bigwig businesswoman who had tried to steal the mysterious key card that Five had swiped during her pickpocket days (an act that got all of her friends killed, as we saw in Season 1). The key card is part of a Blink Drive, which allows one to travel across vast distances in, well, a blink of an eye. The Raza could use one of those!

The first test of the Blink Drive results in the Raza entering an alternate universe, where the corporations are in full-on war with each other and the Raza gang are ruthless mercenaries for hire. The Blink Drive went kaput after its failed test run, so the gang's only hope to get back to their universe is to steal the Blink Drive that's on the alternate Raza. Brain 'splode!

After Two's nanites begin to fail and her condition becomes critical, the gang infiltrates the headquarters of Dwarf Star Technologies, the company of Two's creator, Alexander Rook. They're able to get the new and improved nanites for Two, but not without a lot of trouble from Rook, who manages to escape once again.

Dark Matter meets Solaris when a computer virus causes Two, Three and Four to suffer bizarre and frightening hallucinations due to the neural imprints they have with the Raza's computer. The Android's much-less-fun counterpart, the Android Simulation, is discovered to be the source of the virus, but who planted it in the first place? Five later surmises that it must've been Commander Trufffault of the Mikkei Combine, who had tried to steal the Raza and its Blink Drive when they were in the alternate universe. Hmm ...

Three and Five get some unexpected bonding time when Five is kidnapped by slavetrading ruffians. Three gets badly wounded during the rescue, which made for some very moving moments between the two unlikely pals. Remember, Three was gonna space Five when he first found her as a stowaway on the Raza ... how far they've come!

The season ends with the Raza gang attempting to stop the ever-evil Ferrous Corporation from blowing up space station EOS-7 ... only to have it blown up by Ryo, who also stole the Raza's Blink Drive! Our anti-heroes are left scattered and presumed dead as the corporations prepare for all-out war.
